Buffalo Bills 2018

Trade away Taylor, Woods, Watkins, etc...trade for players like Benjamin etc...to build for the future and create terrible unwatchable product. Terrible management.

You have no clue what ur talking about.

I thought you were saying they didn’t address the offense befor that pick.

As far as giving back Edmunds, Phillips, or Johnson... I’m really really glad you’re not the Bills GM.

The Bills brought in Newhouse and Bodine on the line... Kerley at WR. They drafted two WR’s. Not great moves. But inexpensive moves they hoped would pan out. They didn’t.

No one has told me of a FA WR that wanted to come here without us overpaying in a year where we have no cap room to do so. I would have loved to sign John Brown, but why would he come to Buffalo - rookie QB, can’t overpay him. Of course he’s gonna go play with Flacco. This isn’t Madden. You can’t just dupe the AI and sign and trade for whoever you want.

I would encourage you to give this regime this off season to add some talent to the offense before closing the book on them.

I’ve said before that I think they need to be given the offseason to complete their plan. I personally would have rather had the picks than to trade up twice. Also wouldn’t have bothered with Star or Vontae but it is what it is.

If you believe the plan was over three seasons, this is easier to handle.

Year 1 - clean out the riff raff

Year 2 - Set Defense & draft a QB

Year 3 - Set Offense around QB

(We’re only in Year 2)

Let Anderson/Peterman be the tank commanders.

Outbid everyone for Tyrell Williams.

Draft Ed Oliver.

Use most of the remaining draft and FA $$$ on Offense.

Exactly... I was certainly expecting a team that could be in the 6-9 win range if things fell right offensively but this team was never going to be competing for a deep playoff run with a rookie QB and 2 unexpected retirements from Pro-Bowl caliber offensive linemen.

Patience is key here.

Don’t get me wrong... this is WAY worse than I ever imagined. Like shockingly bad. However, I know they willfully neglected offense as part of a bigger plan, so I’m willing to see what this team looks like after all 3 phases of team building are set for the ‘19-‘20 season.

I don’t think Daboll is a good OC.

I would want to hire someone who has proven he can create a productive (if not prolific) offense with lesser talent than most opponents faced.

OC at Alabama is the last guy I would look at given their perennial talent advantage. How easy is it to draw and call plays when you always have more talent than the opposition.

I think no talent at WR, Shady’s unwillingness to run between the tackles and bad QB play are masking this.

I tend to agree, he has to adapt to current landscape. He has nothing to work with but I hate what he is doing at this point. Daboll may just not be smart enough to be a good OC, IMO. Bills need to really wheel and deal and draft well to get this offense up to speed next year. I thought 6-7 wins this year but things have really backfired. To be honest, I am not really impressed with any of the rookie QB's. They may all turn out fine but media is protecting their agendas saying is one is better than the other etc right now. Year 2-3 will be big for these 4 Qb's. Josh is going to need more help on and off the field to really progress. On offense, outside of 1 or 2 OL, they can all go as far as I am concerned, not really logical I know but it's beyond bad.

Beane and McDermott will get 4 years and I am fine with that but they need to change their outlook regarding the offense. Look at the best teams in the NFL right now, the bills are in the stone ages regarding their offensive philosophy. I like McDermott a lot but good lord they need to get some offense and they need to get somewhere starting next year. The white knuckle philosophy is beyond dated.

Yep, they gambled that they could get away with it this year and it has backfired on them, I just hope they haven't taken such a huge step back that 2019 will leave them with too much work to do on offense to get back to respectable. 2019 could be the year with 6-7 wins not 2018. You just can't be this bad on offense in the NFL today, it's impossible to win games like this.

For the record, this is where I'm at too. I understand this was at least a 3 year process, if not more, and clearly we're at best only halfway done with that plan.

I think it's okay to feel that way and to also disagree with some of the moves that have gotten us here though. Like I've said, I like Allen and Edmunds as prospects and I'm happy to have them. But I do think there were alternative scenarios that would have been better IMO.

Defense can keep you in games for sure, especially in the NFL, but you simply need offense in 2018. Look at Jacksonville. They were elite on d last year. The offense though? It's (usually) so rough.

Look at the main teams competing for a title this year- KC, NE, NO, LA, lesser extent Pitt. Such elite offense. There are certainly teams in the mix with decent offenses and mostly solid defenses like Bal, Chi, Minn, but their offense is still >>>> than what we are working with. There are certainly outlier teams like Indy and TB, teams that have scored a bunch of points but don't have the records like the other teams, but the fact remains... offense has got to score touchdowns.

The bills are averaging 11 points per game!

Buffalo has a D good enough to compete for a SB. I was impressed with your coaches defensive game plan.
They would have beaten anyone in the league last night if they had an above average offense with that D.
The offense needs a complete overhaul.
You got the QB prospect. Now overhaul the OL/WR/RBs.
I hadn’t watched an entire buffalo game till last night. That was a Brian Parini 2005 Syracuse offense performance yesterday against an average Pats D.

That side of the ball needs complete new roster.

Which alternative scenarios in this year’s draft would you have preferred?

The Bills had only two positions that were “must have” going into the draft - QB and MLB. IMO they got the best MLB in Edmunds. He has a chance to become the best MLB in the game. Trading up for him was a must!

Trading up for a QB was a must IMO too. I think all of the top 4 QB’s would have been gone had they stayed put at 12. You’d rather have Lamar Jackson? The Bills moved Sammy and Darby so that they could have the assets necessary to get a QB in the 2018 draft. If they had taken Lamar Jackson at 12 we would be absolute toast as a franchise.

Trading up for Zay the year before or Ragland the year before that - awful moves for sure. They are not transcendent type players. I think Edmunds is and Allen has the chance to be.

Here’s to hoping McCoy and KB get moved today and Pryor gets signed to a 1 year deal.

I'd be happy with this. McCoy just can't be effective with the cast around him and by the time we get it around him, he will be too old. KB is just a clown - enough said. Might as well give Pryor a chance - what do we have to lose at WR?

I personally think Lamar was the best QB prospect in the draft and as I've said, I'm not really a fan of trading up in general. To me, the ideal play (assuming they both made it to these picks, which they ultimately did) would have been taking Lamar and DJ Moore at 21 and 22, who were IMO the #1 QB and #1 WR respectively. Beyond that, it's hard to know in advance who would have made it to all of their respective picks, but for example, they could have gotten those two guys and then with the 2nd round and early 3rd round picks, taken O-Line, linebackers, corners, another WR, etc. I personally liked Fred Warner at LB, Carlton Davis at CB, and Nathan Shepard at DT, all of whom ended up being available at those picks.

Don't get me wrong, I think Edmunds and Allen are both very good prospects. I just think the NFL Draft is too much of a crapshoot; I'd rather have more picks to increase my odds.

Peterman to start against the Bears.

Dude is like the dumpster fire version of Ryan Fitzpatrick. Not good but keeps finding his way back into a starting role.

Thank god Khalil Mack is banged up. Not that it matters.
