I also think with contracts like these, the athlete comes off as a reasonable guy that was happy with the guaranteed money, doesn't want the distraction. Every player is free to do what they want and handle their business as they see fit but I am sure Shakir is the driving force behind this. I am sure his agent was well aware of his market value and Shakir knew he could probably draw the negotiations out and eventually get a bit more money but obviously not in his nature. Contract is below most projections and seems like a home run for Beane and the Bills.
