Build your all-time College Basketball lineup

Curry
Jordan
Melo
Duncan
Walton

To me, the clear value picks are Jordan, Melo, and Duncan. From there it was either Kareem/Kidd or Walton/Curry. Kidd couldn’t shoot at all in college, and Cal bombed out of the NCAAs, so I figured Walton is close enough to Kareem that I could take him and get Curry.

My thoughts exactly. Those three at the two buck level seem like steals.
3 huge steals and then arguably the two greatest basketball players of all time to round it out.

Yes - too lazy to check but Jordan and Kareem are triple crown players and is the only other triple crown player on that board Magic? Triple crown = NCAA Champ, NBA Champ, Olympic Gold. I know there are a bunch on the board with 2 out of 3.

Never mind - I was wrong with Kareem. However, being in a Bruce Lee movie should count for something.

Magic, Michael, Melo, Patrick, AD.

I think Kareem is the best college player of all time, so I gotta have him...
Right!
It's amazing how many people don't select him.
He is definitely the centerpiece and the top pick.
If this was an NBA all-time team Jordan would be #1.
But not here.

Based on this group of talent...$15 can get a team of:

C = Alcindor
PF = Duncan
SF = Magic
PG = Kidd
SG = Redick

First of all I hate these "lists". They show a historical bias, that is the farther back you go the current sports writers have no real idea of just how good players were 30, 40, 50 years and more. As additional proof, the inclusion of Hurley as one of the top 5 pgs invalidates the whole list! If anybody had every seen Calvin Murphy play would realize he alone was a better pg. Not even to mention Oscar Robertson, Earl the Pearl etc. These guys played way before the 3 point line as did Maravich and Bird. Their stats especially Pistol Pete's, would be historic! Latner also is another one that should not be on the list . Maybe not in the top 10!

Do you all realize that Alcindor caused a rule change in college ball? For a number of years the dunk was outlawed because of him. It lasted 10 years.

PG: Magic, no brainer.

SG: Jordan, Dean Smith is the only one who could hold him under 20 points. If anyone else is coaching him in college it would’ve been scary.

SF: Melo, no-brainer.

PF: Laettner, even tho I hate him he did it all and was extremely clutch.

C: Davis, I wanted rim protection with all the others being elite offensive players and I couldn't afford anyone else here.

Best college players ever? It’s odd but they all went to the same school- Sherm, Pearl, DC, Hak, Melo #1, Billy, Rony, MCW, Johnny, Lawrence, Tyler, Dion, Tyus, Wes, Arinze, and a host of others

It's just a fun list to generate some discussion, I don't think it should necessarily be viewed as 'these are the 5 best guys of all time at each position". (obviously, since Bilas is on there...)

Jordan/Carmelo >>>>>>>>>>Redick/Magic

Because of Redick. He’s not in those guys league. There have been lots of Redicks in college hoops.

I dunno man, I think you may be selling Redick short. He averaged almost 27 ppg his senior year on very efficient shooting percentages. He's an historically great college basketball player.

Nothing to go with those points, and a sweet 16 loss to LSU.

Those other guys did it all, and won titles.

Brandon Roy was better than JJ that same season.

Look at Glen Rice’s stats. The efficiency blows Redick away and he won a title.
