Build your all-time College Basketball lineup

When u look at Wilt's stats in the NBA they are just staggering. Averaged more than 48 minutes per game one season. Never fouled out of a game. Still holds more than 90 NBA records.
What center ever averaged 4.4 assists per game over a 17 year NBA career and led not only the league in rebounds, fg% but also assists one year? He even averaged 8.6 assists/game leading the NBA one year.

Some interesting videos.

Long but fun to watch Link below:

His numbers are staggering.

I have always wondered if the never fouling out thing really reflects that well on him though. If you're the center, the last line of defense, and you never foul out? Sure seems (based on stuff I've read) that Wilt was protective of that and probably backed off defensively sometimes in order not to foul out.

I think u make a fair point. But if I'm the coach of Wilt's team I like the fact that he's on the floor 46-48 minutes a night for 80-82 games a year. That to me is the really incredible stat. Guy rarely came out of a game and rarely missed a game.

I read a story the other day saying that Joel Embiid was on track to break one of Wilt's records - # of FTs attempted per 36 minutes (weird stat). The sub headline was "And Embiid makes his FTs". That's great. Wilt prolly averaged 40% more minutes played than Embiid over the course of an average season for the two.

I'm going to emphasize winners.

Alcindor-->3 championships in 3 years. He was the best college player ever.
Laettner-->2 championships in 4 years. And maybe the most clutch of them all. He knocked UConn and UK out of the tourneys with buzzer-beaters.
Davis-->1 championship in his only year. Even Calipari couldn't screw that up. Plus, until his last 2 years of HS, he was a guard. In a pinch, he helps with the ball-handling.
Jordan-->1 championship. And, with a freer rein, he might have exploded before he reached the NBA. Plus, hell, he's Michael Jordan.
Kidd-->0 championships, and not much a shooter, but one of the 2 best facilitators of all time (not enough room for Magic).

Not a 3-point shooting team, but it will score, and I dare you to approach the rim.

Fun fact - we were supposed to play his 5-seed Cal team in the round of 32 in the 94 (?) NCAAT after we beat Hawaii, but they were upset by Wisconsin-Green Bay in the first round.

That’s not a fun fact. At all.

That seemed to happen a few times in that era where our potential second round opponent was beaten in the first round by a lower seed.

A great facilitating PG that is strangely absent from this group of players was Isiah Thomas.

Williams, Maravich, Melo, Duncan, Alcindor

Williams seems a relative bargain.
Surprised not more love for Maravich.
Melo of course.
Duncan/Alcindor slight edge over Laettner/Walton

I like the original 5 dollar team in this post.

, I think there are some local flavored guys who should be higher up on the other teams

I think Marvin Barnes could give a lot of these power fowards a run for there money the guy averaged 20 points and 18 rebounds a game.

How about for a point guard Calvin Murphy i think after Maravich there was not a better ball handler than Murphy.

You want a backup center ? how about Bob Lanier 27 points and 16 rebounds a game,

small forward how about Dr J Julius Erving avaeraged 25 point and 20 rebounds a game.

lost of awesome players

...Surprised not more love for Maravich...
Greatest scorer and one of the most exciting players ever.
But not a great winner.
Played on two teams that were around .500.
Then senior year LSU made the NIT when the NIT was a big deal.

Another guy who should be in the talk of greatest players/team ever is David Thompson.
Bill Russell as well.
But no one in Oscar Robertson's class...ever.
