BUS TRIP CANCELLED --- SyracuseFan to Metlife (9/27)

UPDATE: J&J Tours will offer the following for $120:

Round-trip Luxury Motor coach (Movies on Bus)
Certified Escorts
Full Tailgate

  • Burgers, Hot Dogs, Coney
  • Buffalo Chicken Wings
  • Buffalo Chicken Wing Meatballs
  • Turkey Chilli
  • Pulled Pork
  • Chips
  • Cheese/Crackers
  • Cookies
  • Bagels, Muffins and Coffee at Departure
  • Driver Gratuity
  • Beer
  • Soda
Itinerary: Bus Leaves from St. Margaret’s (Mattydale, NY) at 7:00 am.

The original plan offered was $175 which included a ticket in the 300's section. For those of us who have or will upgrade to the $120 seats via TexanMark's link, J&J has offered the "reduced" rate. Sounds pricey for some, I'm sure, but after investigating other options, and trying to fill a 55 seat bus (with all the headaches that would entail), J&J ain't sounding so bad. (I will send particulars about 2 other quotes I received to anyone who wants to know.)

Bottom line: who gives a crap as long as the Orange kicks the crap out of ND.

We had Sean Keeley drop a post at TNIIAM. Let's see if it gets any business for us.

I had no new takers from the TNIIAM article for getting on the bus trip. Before I recommend we scrub the bus trip idea I made one last attempt to save this.

I sent out a request for quotes with 4 different bus companies offering 24-37 seat buses. We'll see if the price per seat is doable. Should have more info within 24 hrs.

Great job by you and All4SU Mark. Its a great idea for sure. I wonder if a lot of people are in a holding pattern like myself. Until the wedding this summer I cant commit to anything so I am on the fence. While I doubt many have the same reasons I do I have a feeling there are a lot of people on the fence for various reasons.

I think the timing is just way to early for most to commit. the hs fball schedule just came out, soccer schedule not out yet for many. this is a great thing but for me more than 2-3 weeks out is still pushing it.

We might have a good quote...for a 35 pax motor coach (getting some follow up questions answered). This is probably in our "sweet spot". More to follow...and the price per seat should be lower than thought.

Update: How does $50 per person sound to include tip, parking and a potential $150 slush fund to buy some drinks and snacks? The Bus will make a stop in Syracuse and Binghamton. Pretty sure we can get Utica-Rome people a stop too.

If you are interested...please let us know. It is non-binding right now but a deposit will be needed in about 30-60 days.

Just remember...you'll save a minimum of $30 for parking, a few bucks in tolls, Motel room, gas and aggravation. The bus will have a bathroom and should have wi-fi.

IN!

Mark--are you sure the 50 bucks will include driver gratuity?

Bargain of the day!

Hey Mark, what is the policy for children on Bus trips and also, what is the Policy for Metlife? Do 3 year olds require a ticket or is it the same policy as the Dome, as long as they can sit on your lap type of thing?

I am debating whether or not I drive down and get a hotel or go on the bus trip. My daughter hasn't missed a home game since she was born.

Check with MetLife or SU on the ticket policy...as for the bus policy I'll leave that up to ALL4SU and the motor carrier (might be a state law involved). If you bought two seats (you and a buddy/wife) and the carrier is ok with your 3 year old sitting on your lap it might be okay. That said...even if you had to pay for a seat for her...the bus trip would still be cheaper than driving and getting a hotel.

Bingo folks are going to drive themselves. Unless there is a commitment for about 25 total seats in the next week or so...I recommend we table the idea.

Very important for people to step up now and make a commitment to the bus trip. You won't find a better deal than what TexanMark has arranged. Wait too long and there won't be any buses available at all. Come on guys, LETS DO THIS!!

I have been looking into the cost of chartering a bus to take fans from Syracuse to the game at Metlife Stadium on September 27. My plan would be to depart early in the morning from DestiNY parking lot and drive direct to the stadium. Depending on the game time, we would arrive a few hours prior to the game, allowing us to tailgate with the balance of the SyracuseFan group. Following the game, the bus would return everyone back to Syracuse the same day.

I have not included ticket costs, and do not plan to do so. Everyone would be responsible for selecting and purchasing their own tickets to the game. In addition, you would be responsible for your own beverages, food, etc.

In order to make this work, we would need to have approximately 50 people on the bus. Based on the pricing I have found to date, the cost would be approximately $57 each person. Less than 50 people, the costs go up.

Right now, I'm simply trying to gauge the interest on this board for participating in this charter. Payment would not be until sometime in the early-to-mid summer via PayPal, or directly in cash or check.

If you are interested, please indicate your interest -- AS WELL AS THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO WOULD BE TRAVELING ON THE BUS -- in this thread, or send me a PM.

Admins, if it is possible to tack this post, I would appreciate it -- at least until we can see if this idea is viable.
Thanks all, and Go Orange!

i have at least 3 interested ...

The Bus is a go!

Latest best guess is the game will be at 3:30 or noon. An evening game seems unlikely as the NFL has a Sunday 1pm game there. The bus will be departing from the bus depot in Clinton. So any Utica/Rome people can catch the bus there. The rest will meet in a spot in Syracuse (i.e. Destiny, WalMart, a church, etc...)

Bottomline: The seats are costing $45 per person (includes bus, parking and driver tip). We will charge $55 which allows for a breakeven at 28. We have about 20 commits right now. If we go over 28 the excess money will be used to buy food and drink for the trip.

Mark--

Any chance the bus could stop at Binghamton and/or Scranton?

I know somebody who would love for a pick-up in Scranton--will even kick in 2 cases of beer (passengers choice) plus the price of his ticket.

How and who do we pay? I'm in for two. Thanks For organizing this Mark

It is easiest to get a PayPal account. ALL4SU will be collecting the money. We are not quite ready yet to accept money.

Just wanted to re-affirm this bus will be family friendly. Yes, adult beverages will be allowed to be consumed onboard but will be done responsibly. Grads and non-grads are welcomed.
