Bye Bye Bo

That approach works for other schools, it doesn't work for SU. Is that not obvious? We don't have the alumni base or Phil Knight to rely on. They need to change their approach and do something different or we will fall farther behind. The death knell of may companies have been the words "that is the way we have always done it". Make no mistake, an athletics department is a company.

Yes, it is obvious we aren't a state school using state money nor a school with a large donor base nor a school with a sugar daddy. Make no mistake, an academic institute does not pour millions upon millions into athletic facilities. Not SU, not any school. Never have never will. Want to bang on someone? Bang on the people charged with securing major donors or politicians that said no to a windfall.

I did hammer Stephanie NoMinder on this board for her ridiculous decision and stance on the stadium.

So in around 140 years since SU was founded, they haven't been able to secure enough major donors to athletics...again, sounds like it ain't happening. So the approach is let's wait around for the whale...

I am not saying don't pursue major donors but in the meantime, if you want to be competitive you need to change your approach. I don't care if it involves investing in penny stocks to make money, something needs to be done.

Part of what drives me insane is that it seems that there is no urgency.

You defending the process or telling me how funding for athletics works doesn't make it any less frustrating that the approach is to wait for a major donor to suddenly be interested in donating.

What is your wish list?

What is your wish list?

What difference does MY wishlist make?

My wish list is for the SU admins, BOT to take Football seriously and do things like a first class D1 P5 organization.

The biggest things we have seen from this administration since the Dome was built were:
1. The Manley restoration $4 million
2. The new Football facility and locker rooms - $5 million
3. The IPF $10.5 million
4. New Roof on the Dome $15 million - this really doesn't count IMO as it is maintenance and doesn't enhance anything

So on football SU has spent $41 million in 34 years on Football - remove the Dome roof (maintenance) and that becomes 26 million. Over 1/3 of which isn't completed yet (IPF). Alabama spent more than that on Cleats and a Juice Bar in their facility.

Does that scream "5 star and 4 star recruits please come here" ?? Or does it say to everybody " we will do just enough to get by".

Framing this in the context of an SU Fan Board but I don't get it, do you not want this Football program and Athletics department to be successful? I really don't understand your defense of the administration and their minimal commitment to the program? Don't you want them to spend more money to enhance the program and it's success? I would think that this would be something you would be in favor of?

I get jealous when I see teams have 7 home game son schedule, believe we did that once past 10 years with two FCS and while I don't want two FCS it sucks that we don't get 7 games sometimes. I know I know met life is the reason. Anyone know when met life dies down we could snag 7 home games again?

Doug Marrone's first year in 2009 we played 8 home games. Next year we have 7 games at the Dome. URI, CMU, LSU, Wake, Pitt,Clemson,BC.

There was also two new turf football practice fields in addition to a lacrosse field too. New turf was also put down in the Carrier Dome. There has been several upgrades to the Dome in other areas too. I think the biggest issue is the amount of money the school is willing to pay assistant football coaches. We really need to upgrade in this area.

SU is currently investigating what they want to do long term with the Dome. This will set the tone for years to come. Will they renovate the Dome or build new on campus or off campus? That's the big question. I would like to see a complete renovation of the Dome with a hard roof and a huge expansion to the west side of the Dome. I've spoken to Pete Sala and I know it's something they're investigating. Whatever decision is made will really effect the entire athletic program.

If they don't do something, they should turn the Dome into a giant planter.

So you don't know what you're complaining for.

I know exactly what I am complaining for and so do you.

How about answer my question about why you don't want the same things for the program that I do.

How about answering these:

If you want a "wish list" then better facilities than Oregon or Bama.

Now tell me that is crazy even though you asked for a "wish list".

I don't know what you want so I don't know if I want the same things as you do. My question wasn't really that difficult. But spend money is not an answer. I'm sure you don't know how much SU does spend on football. But if you're gonna say they don't spend enough, you must have an idea what it should be spent on.

Having lived right in the middle of this circus today has been fantastic. Personally I would love Pelini at Cuse but I don't think Shaf should get fired for this season, he can only do so much with so many injuries on offense and honestly the D kept us in a lot of games up until they got gassed which will happen when your offense goes 3 and out all day. If this crap continues and Pelini sits out a year, which I think he will with that buyout, you better believe we should go after Bo.

As for Nebraska fans it is comical today. All the guy did was win 9 games pretty consistently and his players loved him but they fire him and the list of candidates they think they can get is great. Lets just say there are HONESTLY probably a few people in this state who think Saban would leave Bama. I have heard Gary Patterson would leave TCU, Jim Harbough, and Mark Richt (Which kinda makes sense cause he was born in Omaha but leaving the SEC come on) all from the media and the ABC station led with about 45 minutes of coverage, we had a HBO title fight in town last night with a local fighter retaining the belt and basically becoming the next great American boxer so its not like nothing was going on in town.

There is only one fan base I would wish a Greg Robinson hire on and it's the Big Red.

Well it does mean something however it was started before he was brought on wasn't it? To be honest we know nothing of his commitment really

Yes, true.

I was not commenting on the new Chancellor.

I have seen or heard nothing to suggest that he's not onboard.

They did already when they hired Callahan. That dude set them back big time.
