Class of 2026 C Abdramane Siby (Mali) COMMITTED TO SYRACUSE (4/15/26)

Solid developmental type. He seems more skilled at the same stage of their respective developmental curves than someone like Chukwu [for example].

Solid tools.

Don't see him as starting caliber center this upcoming year. But not a bad "get."

He's from Mali... so 19 could likely mean 27... Notorious for African pro soccer players in Europe to fudge their age down since birth certificates often don't exist and are created years later when needed.

Under-the-radar Euro-by-way-of-Mali center prospect it is.

Hopefully he's good and not one of the project types we have a history of signing and treating like a walk-on.

Well all you have to do is watch 10 seconds of video to know exactly why we signed him. A little digging and I found his numbers are great when he plays against kids his own age, but he sat the bench on a team with 23 and 24 year olds. No surprise there. What I dont know is the quality of the team/league. Anybody have any insights here?
I looked up the roster of his current team. The starting SG was a 2nd round NBA draft pick in 2024. The starting PF was a NBA 2nd round draft pick in 2025. This suggests that there is talent on his team.

Convinced some of the people on this board just like to piss on everything Gerry has done.
It's driving me crazy and I was a major Hodgson guy on here. Gerry clearly has a plan and is executing a plan. Everyone wants to and Gerry wants to win a national championship. Establishing an identity for the program is a major step in moving to that and something that you want to get done asap and with these moves we are on our way to getting that identity establishment accomplished. I mean we haven't even played a game yet. Enjoy the ride!

I could go for another Euro player honestly. These Euro guys treat their Euro leagues like a real job and career. They are going to up the competition in our whole locker room.

We've ended up with too many guys like Nate George treating their next portal destination like it's a Summer Temp job at Enchanted Forest.

Out of nowhere. Haven’t read all the posts but seems athletic and good defender and developmental overall.

I hate to say that D word because… do these types stick around?

👋

I LOVE a signing like this. 10-15 off the bench for bounce, rim protection, and rebounding, sign me up.
Yup.

There's basketball talent literally all over the world, and you don't get any credit for not using a scholarship. Snagging a guy at a position of need that has these measurables and experience at a competitive level like this is a great roster move, even if his biggest contribution is being a really tall guy that practices with the team.

Has no offense at all. But the length is there, and the defense is solid. Watched part of his game where he missed the most wide-open layup of all time. Also, he played against Prolific Prep here in the States and only scored 2 points the entire game, all on free throws.

Hope he develops, but also hope he is not a day 1 big contributer

I want you to put the word out that we back.

We will see. The propensity to take a couple of bad moments instead of the entire picture is no different than people that complain of the opposite. I’m gonna take the draft express guys sentiment over yours - no offense. Also remember at this age kids improve and develop quickly sometimes. 2024 all tournament team next to a guy who plays for the Heat now..

Andrija Jelavić played for the same team before transferring to Kentucky last year. Averaged 11.0 and 7.4 for Superbet, then 5.5 and 4.0 for UK. His per 36 minute production dipped a bit, but not by much. I think Siby could definitely play a role next year, but we’ll have to wait and see.
