Class of 2026 C Abdramane Siby (Mali) COMMITTED TO SYRACUSE (4/15/26)

Didn’t he have serious eye issues requiring him to try to wear goggles? Detached retina or something like that? Sidibe was just sadly snakebit with injuries.
Chukwu played “blind” for several weeks before he said anything to the coaches. Once he made it known, they got his vision issue corrected (I think with surgery??). His knees became a real problem his senior season. His knee joints just wore down, so he only played spot minutes every game.

Sidibe was really starting to shine before he got hurt and was never able to get back to where he was. His leg joints were basically shot too.

if you are shooting 60% and only scoring 3 pts that means you are not touching the ball at all so who knows what real skills he has down low.

He shows some skills in the highlights - mobile, outside shooting form, and passing ability. But there are playgrounds in NYC that could field better teams than the ones he is playing against.

Ok somebody mentioned him hitting a 3 which I had not seen before. So I found these highlights that were probably posted already but I must have missed. He certainly has a bit more offensive skill than I thought. This is a very nice pickup. No doubt he will be valuable on defense. Not sure if he is starter good or not, but I think he should be just good enough on offense to get significant minutes.

Think we may still need one more center, either that or iat the very least we get two more forwards if one has the ability to also play Center, that could work.

Siby Highlights start at 2:30

He’ll be nuts over her.

Stevie, I still think one of the most underrated SU players ever. He had zero 3 point shot but my guy could get to the rim at will and finish…every time.

And yet, he hit 30% from 3 for his Cuse career.

It always astounded me that a 6’2” dude could average 56% from the field
(which includes that 30% from 3)

but less than 53% from the FT line.

Love me some Stevie!!

One of my Cuse highlights was serving him and Sherm at the bar at Sutter’s.

Wow. Highlights, but damn. Moves like a small forward. Good hands. Spin moves, runs the floor. Hook-hook-dunk-dunk.

I’m happy. If he’s the starter, I’m okay.

Those highlights were against guys with size, not high school kids or Australia ‘pro’ leagues.

Feels good to look forward to seeing a particular player suit up. And then I look at who Louisville is getting and I am re-grounded, but, yeah, this is cool. We are going to have two guys in Siby and Dual who have the look and skills of NBA high draft picks, and our staff has to get them to realize that potential.

Donna Diota said we paid good $ for both international guys. Apparently these were sought after international players across the P4 landscape. Giovny said we had previously targeted mid major level international guys and that was not the case with these 2
Why would we pay good money for somebody cuse2023 said the coaches don’t expect anything from this year? That makes zero sense.

I would throw in Murano as a potential NBA guy, too. We don't know anything, but I do trust Givony's assessment. He seemed over the moon about the kid.

I find myself undervaluing and overvaluing the early looks of this roster all at once.

While not him, Siby looks somewhat like Giannis in the way he moves with his size.
