Class of 2026 C Abdramane Siby (Mali) COMMITTED TO SYRACUSE (4/15/26)

Much older than who thinks?? Noted everywhere that he is 19 currently. He will be 20 in October. Yes, he is coming in older than most freshmen and has played against older comp.
See the bold: that’s commentary from the video. Class of 2006!

Ok somebody mentioned him hitting a 3 which I had not seen before. So I found these highlights that were probably posted already but I must have missed. He certainly has a bit more offensive skill than I thought. This is a very nice pickup. No doubt he will be valuable on defense. Not sure if he is starter good or not, but I think he should be just good enough on offense to get significant minutes.

Think we may still need one more center, either that or iat the very least we get two more forwards if one has the ability to also play Center, that could work.

Siby Highlights start at 2:30

Hey now? I know its lesser competition but those are some nice fluid skills he's got. Reminds me a little of Sidibe when he was healthy at times.

Umm...that's his year of birth, Captain
shocked star trek GIF

Agree, he's got some foundational offensive skills. Another thing to consider: we have Arinze on this team as an Assistant Coach.

Arinze is one of the best [if not THE best] low post offensive centers we've ever had. He'll be able to do things in practice against Siby at 6-9 and BIG that other coaches can't. He'll also be able to help him refine his low post skills, by teaching him the tricks / techniques that made Onuaku himself so effective on the block.

Hopefully, this isn't just a kid who "only" ends up being a pogo stick / rim protector. Would love to see a guy like this develop into an NBA prospect here, solidifying the center position down the road.
So long as AO doesn't try to help him with FTs...

Eh you have to be careful pulling numbers from random leagues. It's not difficult to dunk/rebound if you're bigger than everyone else
If he moves well, can catch the ball with consistency, and rebounds then he is better than most centers we have had. Everything else is teachable. You have to cacth the ball before you can dunk ,no matter the competirion quality.

And yet, he hit 30% from 3 for his Cuse career.

It always astounded me that a 6’2” dude could average 56% from the field
(which includes that 30% from 3)

but less than 53% from the FT line.

Love me some Stevie!!

One of my Cuse highlights was serving him and Sherm at the bar at Sutter’s.
To be fair, he did shoot like 26 and 27 % from 3 his junior and senior year.

81.5% from the line is huge. Free throw percentage is extremely predictive of future shooting talent. Not saying he’s a knockdown shooter (he doesn’t need to be), but he can absolutely develop a good mid range and three point shot.
I do not want a 7 Foot player taking threes, not one.

Yeah I'm sure they'll have him in the weight room all summer. Not really worried about it until the season starts.
Many of these African guys have trouble eating enough to gain weight, have to wait and see on strength and weight gain combo.
