Syracuse forward C.J. Fair is not projected to go in many mock drafts but could slip into the second round.

“From the college 3 especially he’s solid,” McDonough said of Fair’s jumper. “Syracuse made a living on that mid-range. In the NBA it’ll be interesting to see, he might be able to play some stretch 4 and some 3 as well.”

The workout, the Suns' 10th, also included Syracuse senior small forward C.J. Fair and Ohio State junior small forward LaQuinton Ross.

The 6-foot-8 Fair, a second team All-American, led Syracuse in scoring (16.5), was second in rebounds (6.4) and third in steals (1.3). He has been linked to the Suns' second-round pick, No. 50 overall.

"The Suns are a run-and-gun team. I like to play in transition and I play at a high pace," he said. "If I land with the Suns, I would be honored."

C.J. Fair, Syracuse (F, 6-foot-8, 215 pounds) — A second-team All-American and first-team All-ACC selection, Fair averaged a team-high 16.4 points points per game as a senior for the Orange. His best performance came in what many called the game of the year in college basketball, pouring in a career-high 28 points in a 91-89 overtime win over Jabari Parker and Duke. There is skepticism about whether Fair’s college success will translate to the NBA level, though, as most scouts have him pegged as a fringe second-round pick or an undrafted free agent.

"Syracuse graduate and forward C.J. Fair recently worked out in Phoenix for the Suns on Monday. He said he likes their style of play, getting up and down and transition, and I would have to agree with him. He is a good finisher at the rim and has a good mid-range game. He also proved during his junior season when he gets good looks he can shoot a high-percentage from out there (he shot 45 percent from beyond the arc that year) and good looks from out there in transition, so that can’t hurt. NBADraft.net has Fair going to the Suns with the 50th pick in the draft, so we’ll see if that pans out. Remember, Fair also worked out in Charlotte, Milwaukee and San Antonio amongst other places."
