now let's hope he clears. earlier in the thread there was a comment by his dutch coach that dutch kids sometimes have difficulty getting through the ncas clearinghousr
I wouldn't doubt it for a minute ... lots of recruits have a hard time getting through NCAA's clearinghouse unless they're committed to Duke, UK, KU, Zona, or UNC.

Sidibe 10-20 mpg
Dolezaj 20-30 mpg
Edwards/JBA 5 mpg combined

I honestly think it comes down to whether Sidibe bounces back health-wise or not. If so, then he could play heavy minutes, and probably start.

If not, then Dolezaj plays heavy minutes and Sidibe is a token reserve.

Of course, maybe JBA or Edwards surprises by being ready earlier than expected, a la Lydon or Dolezaj.

All of this guessing playing time for our 5 spot is fun and all but I think not enough is known about JBA or Jesse to determine much. Also sidibe could wind up being a non factor with his knees so it's a crapshoot. Hopefully our 2 incoming freshman bigs are a nice surprise to us all this year. The trip to Italy couldn't happen at a better time for these young guys.

Speaking from a place of complete ignorance on how this works, I would hope that given his post grad status and the fact that we have the Italy trip happening that we can get that ball rolling and everything settled pretty soon.

I tend to hold out hope that JBA and now Edwards will be a pleasant surprise

Honestly who on here thought lydon was going to be such a impactful freshman for us? I dont think anyone on here expected him to be as solid as he was for us right from the start.

Absolutely did. He was a Top 100 recruit (#76 in fact), and he showed well in every all star game he played in.

He was a pretty solid recruit, and I remember Francis was all over how great he played on that loaded U18 team USA squad.

But for a 6-8 195 pound guy to play center well? That's what surprised me. Ditto Dolezaj.

Lydon was a 4 Star top 100 recruit with lots of offers from Big East/Big Ten/ACC teams.

He was expected to be a legit player. Kansas tried to poach him late.

If either of these kids are half of Lydon’s freshman year we should be happy.

Lydon played with the City Rocks. Anyone who followed anything knew he was going to be good.
I get that. But I'm pretty sure he surpassed most expectations his freshman year. He didnt have much hype coming in and a lot of people really started taking notice of him after his USA camp. He played above expectations.

This is very irrelevant but watching Marek bounce between the 4 and 5 always makes me wonder what could have been with Chris McCullough.

That kid was every bit the prospect we clamor for, annually, and had dynamic size too.

Everyone had him ranked too low. I remember a few scouting services even admitting it before the season started.

Personally, my preference would have been a grad transfer big man. But we desperately needed any big man with Sidibe a health question mark and not sure what we will get from Ajak. He does look like a solid developmental project so hopefully he pans out into something good.

Absolutely. I just took a quick glance through his old thread and it's pretty interesting. Lots of talk about him not being ready to contribute from day 1 but liking his potential but then after the USA stuff a lot of people began thinking he was going to be a contributor. He was a great freshman for us considering he should of played the 4.

Ppl underestimate how big of a blow him going down was to that season and to the program in general.

Thought he was overrated and lazy. Not sure how good that team could have been with him, but it certainly didn't help. We imposed sanctions that year anyway, so no NCAAs no matter how good it was.

Even if he does stay healthy and the team wins more games, he's gone after one year. So in the grand scheme of things, I disagree that it was a huge blow to the program.

Another reason I, potentially, overvalue Gbinije’s and Senior Rak’s contributions to this program.

Wasn’t he brought in when we were hammered by sanctions? Essentially it was just a nba tryout for him then he got hurt
