it may not sound like it because he's on social media so much, but i think he's kind of a quiet guy. ive only spoken with him twice, both briefly, and he was soft spoken. when he won that national celebrity poker tournament on tv, they interviewed him after and he was almost embarrassed that he won.

We have money(not UK/Duke/Louisville money)- we have good targets for bigs that are as good if not better than Freeman we are working on as shared. Freeman isn’t even off the board yet. You guys call this place a circle jerk then you support unsupported claims like this.

Let me make something clear. A lot of people on here carry heavy skepticism and concern. That’s not going away anytime soon until we win a bunch of games. There is nothing wrong with having skepticism nor concern about closing on a roster. There also really isn’t anything known about how good we are right now with the 9 we have in terms of improvement as well as the foreign guys. For many of us this year may determine how much juice is in our veins be fanatics vs simply walking away and letting SU hoops and cbb fade into the back for us. So no one needs this forceful ( hopeless disaster or bust) traffic cop routine. We aren’t going to know anymore about what our program looks like in two months than BH at PC. Not until late October will anyone know much at all.

First off, it’s laughable when people say they know how much money SU has. Our current roster simply doesn’t support the fact we have a plentiful NIL budget. Second, one of the reasons Blair was hired was because he’s a respected fundraiser. We should fully expect him to address the shortcomings in our financial support in the coming months.

Yeah, I have high hopes for Blair building out a better NIL infrastructure and helping to right the ship with basketball.

Our two European players did not come cheap. Doty and White is close to another two million. Tobiason, Dual and Moesh is at least another two million. I would guess it still leaves us with around $4-5 million left. That’s nothing to sneeze at. That doesn’t include Kiyan and Goodrich.

I assume both our Euro guys cost a pretty penny considering how highly they both were regarded overseas.
White was also quite expensive
Both Tobiason and Dual probably cost a lot as well.
And though it has been reported by several on this board, that Doty gave us a discount, I would be shocked if he didn’t get at least 700 k.

Let’s just have faith that GMAC and the staff are putting together the best team they can with the resources available.

I can accept us getting outbid by Kentucky but the bs statement from bees saying we backed off because of “health issues” or something is load of crap being out out there for losing the players. the common narrative is we are losing players and aren’t closing on our priority ones. This brings us back to gmac not landing the target recruits we wanted when he was an assistant. This is exactly what people were worried about and it’s clearly happening. If we don’t have the cash others do then we need to have the Fran brown type recruiter sealing the deal. It appears we don’t have the dog recruiter. I have no doubt gmac and couch up the kids but when your playing against p4 talent you aren’t going to be able to out coach these teams regularly. Talent more times than not wins. This is not me being negative this is me seeing the teams I love failing year after year and reading the comments from the insiders saying every year we are improved. This is not an improvement from last year. We have zero p4 proven talent. All we have are the “diamonds in the rough” we Su fans hold out hope actually panning out which almost never do. As it stands This is going to be another missed ncaa tourney roster

This is 100 pct all opinion and Bees was speculating not confirming from what I read and you just over reacted to it treating it as fact when it wasn’t presented as such. Now here you are claiming things as facts when they are not. Every bit of what you are posting is speculative while you get into it with others for being speculative on the other side of the argument. Meanwhile you offer zero arguments using other schools as an example after I even pointed out the reality that exist over at Providence for BH who is still some how the savior we never got a chance to see what he could do here despite having a bunch of question marks and non P5 adds ( along with a couple awful P5 adds) of his own. We had everyone talking up our portal class last year … it flopped with a bad coaching staff but still underwhelmed while being full of P5 names on it.

I don't know that is true or fair. Gerry didn't close with two guys that we all remember as an ass't. He was going against Cal and K. Jb at his best got beat by those guys and he was a Head coach. Second, we didn't know who are top targets were or are. We certainly closed on Doty, Aiden, and 3M. Not to mention White or Anthony. I don't think it is fair to not include the guys we got when we are talking about closing. I honestly don't think having a dog recruiter is as important as it once was in the days of NIL. How much are you offering seems to have replaced having a great relationship with the players. I don't think any of us will know what we look like as a team until we see them play as a team. Obviously we need a 5. I think we should wait until we get one before we climb on the ledge.

They are paid players and recruiting is easy now and not important. We just write a check. Clearly not the case. If they don’t want to play here then we need to fix the reason. Once again, we closed on 3M We closed on Aiden We closed on Doty Why is it we can't close on only guys we don't get when we don't know whether the school wanted those guys other than some fans on a fan board. You and I have no idea where guys are on our board. As for Cal and Rick P , two of the greatest recruiters ever and they both have twice the money we have. You really think that is the standard? We brought in more money than ever before this year but we are not in the class of Ark, St John's, Duke, Michigan and a number of others. We have money to compete but we are not the Dodgers.

Can we please stop talking in absolutes? If we do not land a guy, it does not mean Gerry cant close. It does not mean we do not have the money to pay guys. I am seeing so much hyperbole on this board in the last month, it is crazy. There are so many other factors in play when it comes to the portal. No one knows what the final roster will look like at this point. All of these threads continue to get hijacked with arguments.
