Keeping the beast on the down low

Will anyone?

We are all listed as “day-to-day”.
I remember listening to sports radio as a teen and while giving an NBA update the commentator mentioned that Bryant "Big Country" Reeves was questionable, and after stating that and letting it rest for a second he said "Well... yeah."

There are a lot of Creighton fans who call him lazy with no work ethic. I have no idea if that’s true but they really seem to dislike him.
Yikes. We have alot of folks on here who dislike Donnie for his lack of energy at times. These kids need to have a fire lit under their butt, but with the money in hand, not all of them seem to care as much.

Would Iowa fans say that 2 years ago? Doubtful …
I actually reached out to one today and he said the same...
I trust GMac and the staff. I really do.
This has been the first name we are tied to that I somewhat wish we weren't.

Being originally from Iowa, but not a Hawkeye fan, I do hope the best for this kid should he commit. He plays below the rim, but so did AO.

Excited to see how this all plays out.

What happened to him that he scored nearly 17 at Iowa and barely got off the bench at Creighton?

His advanced stats demonstrate that he was still effective when on the court.
I did a moment of research, and he missed a lot of Iowa season due to a finger injury that cost the end of the season. Then he was injured while at Creighton with a knee injury.

There may also have been offensive style problems, and the team at Creighton wasn't that good, making his transition more difficult.

Overall, those injuries were the biggest part of his problems.

What year was the finger injury. Freshman year?

Creighton has a lot of NIL money. McDermott is one of the best coaches in the business. Great offense and one of the best with baseline and sideline out of bounds plays. He’s be number one on my list for an opening. I doubt he would ever leave.
Not the case on 1st sentence:) McDedrmott is a good coach and bet
I agree with you. Firmly believe the injuries messed up his season completely. If he gets back to 15 and 7 we will be in a really nice spot.
Injuries had nothing to do with last season.

100% agree with you.

Iowa was horrible 2 years ago they played no defense and did not make the tourney

Cut short his really good sophomore season at Iowa. Last played 1/27/25 and then didn't play full time minutes at Creighton at all this past season, despite scoring 19 in 19 in the season opener.

Freeman had a whole lot of single digit minute games at Creighton and missed a few here and there as well. The exact pattern of a guy who's struggling with a lingering injury.

It also kind of explains why the worst kind of Creighton fans called him lazy. Which really stinks because it seems he could've mailed in the season pretty early and gotten a medical redshirt and made a whole lot more money by getting an extra year of eligibility.

Plenty of Syracuse fans say the same things about Donnie. I usually tend to ignore fan opinions when it comes to players leaving and their work ethic.
I’m one of those fans. I’m glad Donnie decided to leave. Hopefully his new coach can bring all his potential out of him…if so look out.

I also believe the one thing you truly can’t coach…is motor.

Well it’s never easy to keep it under wraps. These kids are touring campus, lotssssss of people are involved with the visit. So extremely difficult to keep it from leaking. This staff has been trying to keep most visits under wraps but it’s really hard nowadays. Not blaming anyone I just know they were trying to keep this on the down low so other schools don’t get wind of it

On another note this would be a reallllly good pickup. Hopefully last year was just a fluke. But Iowa is obviously a decent power conference team and he put up great numbers there. Obviously if he puts up those numbers or even slightly below we should be more than fine at the center spot
Plus the obvious, that it's hard to hide a 7 footer. He kind of sticks out. And another bonus, we get to keep the Freeman name for another season.

He was not injured or lazy…
