Class of 2017 C/PF Moustapha Diagne (NJ) to Western Kentucky

Highlights from that game include Malachi, Roberson, and Diagne.

Most of the highlights are of Tyler getting the best of Diagne, but that can be forgiven because Tyler is the one and only beast!

How about Pope John vs. Roselle Catholic lol.
Ah, we got that one already and extensive writeup somewhere. ;)
Here's another one I'm checking out.
First minute, gets an offensive rebound that leads to kick out three. Next play, picks someone's pocket which leads to him throwing down on a breakaway dunk.

Btw, about this game, 20 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists, 5 blocks, 5 steals!
Not to mention, Mount Olive was no slouch this year.

He does get rejected by the rim at one point when going up for a dunk, yikes.
Makes a nice outlet pass for dunk soon after.
Active on the glass again, offensive rebound and possible putback and the foul (bad camera angle, can't tell if it went in).
Playing good defense on his man, another guy who looks to be all of 6'8 or 6'9 and steps outside to shoot.
Gets another steal in the open court and dribbles all the way down, had the layup but ref called travel. It's close. Probably should have let that call go, but close enough to call a travel.
A sneaky little feed to his man in the post, sort of slipped behind defenders for an easy deuce.
Picks up another loose ball, presence of mind to find a wide open shooter to hit the baseline three.
Another loose ball picked up on the offensive end, he really has a knack for finding the ball (somebody in the background of camera just says he's very athletic, lol).
Nice play to seal his man, easy score down low.
Again, cleans up a mess and converts and one, hits FT.

Francis, a few things. Very unselfish, team oriented guy. He does a lot of little things and nice to haves for a big man, passes, dribbles down the court, contests shots, decent rebounder. I will say that he doesn't ooze athleticism, but just trying to be unbiased. Also, as we've seen from RC game, he does have a physicality and knows how to bang down low. All said, for a guy still learning fundamentals, he could be a very decent player a few years from now. He's got to work on lateral quickness and agility, but some great instincts for the ball.

I think that was just one quarter, but he is really active!

Pope John vs St. Bennie's

The Creator and Briscoe did their thing as usual in this one. Tyler knocked down several threes and Briscoe pretty much scored at will. Diagne, reminds me of Rick Jackson when he was young. I remember how RJ would always struggle to finish inside and it took him some time to get used to the speed and have his timing right. Diagne from the 2 full games that I have seen has had the same issues. He knows what he wants to do offensively, but currently he rushes things or isn't aggressive enough inside when finishing. I think he'll get better with time as he gets older and gains more experience since being new to the game. Defensively, he runs the floor well, rebounds, blocks and alter shots. The box score didn't credit him with any blocks, but he had about 4-5 by my count. Jermaine "angel soft" Lawrence made a cameo, but besides a nice block and an and-1 in the 2qtr, he was basically a non-factor. Tee, I dunno how your boy lil Bryce Aiken does it, but somehow the kid finds a way to be effective. He looks like a 5th grader out there lol, but somehow he always manages to drop 20pts like it's nothing.

#13 from Pope John, Noah Brown has been somebody that I have liked twice after watching them. I did my research on him because I haven't heard his name much during the AAU circuit. Come to find out he's one of the top football prospects in NJ as a RB/WR. He received an offer earlier in the month from SU. Notre Dame, Ohio St, and Mich St are some of the big time football programs that he has offers from as well. I read that he was considered a big Va Tech lean, but with the big names involved now that doesn't seem to be the case for long.

:rolling:

Bro, great stuff:
1) About Lawrence, cameo! Huge smile to start my day with that one.
2) Lil Bryce Aiken. Yeah, he looks like he's 11 years old out there. lol But man, if he grows a bit, crazy scorer.

Thanks, brother. I love this stuff.

Diagne had a big weekend at the Nike Elite 100 camp, which features most of the top 2015/16 kids in the country. His current offer list includes SU, UConn, Nova, St. John's, Cincy, WVU among others.

Btw, nice update to your site! Is that JB cutting down the nets? Marquette game.
So, Diagne now owns a left handed jump hook. Impressive, and that people couldn't figure out if he was a lefty or righty, always a good thing to keep em guessing. Man, if he grew to a true 6'9, would be a gem at the 5. I remember posting that him and Tyler were the same height even though announcers said Diagne was 6'9, Tyler 6'6...now I know why I thought that was ridiculous. Still, even at a true 6'7, they are praising his athleticism and shot blocking. Could be a quality pick up. I hope the year pans out well for him.

Thanks, yup it's from the Marquette game.

Those measurements were taking without shoes, so you could bump another inch on Diagne with the shoes on. 6'8 with a 7'0 wingspan at 15/16 isn't bad. Hopefully as you mention, he can grow a few more inches over the next few years and get to 6'9.

What I like about him is his athleticism, and he looked tough that game against RC last year. If he brings that every time, you're looking at a Keita type with some strength. Like BMK, he hustles to get up and down the court. Might not be there as far as the length yet, but like you said, he's got a few more years to grow. He actually puts the ball on the floor in fastbreak situations, but I'm sure JB will correct that. ;)
Another thing I like about his game, he's not the fumbling, bumbling type for a big guy. In fact, one lengthy video I saw of him recently (almost full game) is that he just gets to the ball, always in the right spot for a loose ball. How many times have we been on the wrong side of that situation? No disrespect to any of our bigs because they are great and got us very far the last two years, but this is an intangible that results in a few more possessions per game.

Lol it seems like we never come up with the loose balls. Agree on the fact that it's amazing for somebody who has just started playing the game for over a year now can possess those skills already. That's why I love his upside because I can only imagine how better he'll be in a few years.

A little clip I found.
Very unorthodox style and as mentioned before, either he's ambidextrous or has really worked on his left this year. Hard to tell if he's a lefty or righty. The three at the end was right-handed but he does favor a lefty jump hook. Still, obviously needs some refinement, but very curious prospect. Have to like that defenders have a hard time favoring either side of him when he finishes with either hand.

This board is soooo lame. I definitely didn't type promo and had the other word that rhymes with it inserted in there lol. Didn't know certain words could get switched up when making a post:confused:

Sometime... when I'm just chillin, i will recite this:

but obviously moustapha instead.

its fun, try it.

Kline referenced his HS coach.

@TheRecruitScoo
2015 Pope John XXIII (NJ) PF Moustapha Diagne has been offered by Syracuse, per his coach.
His coach told Brian Snow back in May/June that Moustapha had an offer from SU. I would assume that the offer was made at the time through the coach and then made now in person to Moustapha at the elite camp.

He would be a nice get. But I don't get why JB doesn't go after the really great players like Diallo. Why concede those players to UK,KU, UNC, etc.?

And perhaps certain conditions may have been removed?
