Hearing the Mattydale guy owned him. Coaches are looking at him now.Why aren’t we looking into the Morrisville guy?

Other side of the argument is that with all the portal movement there may be guys that need a seat in the game of musical chairs and you can fill out the back end of the roster relatively cheaply and maybe get some lotto tickets on a dude or two that are a lot better than you thought. You don’t want to have more than 11-12 in the roster. They can’t all play, plus you have to pay guys who aren’t going to be factors in games. Plus, next year you don’t want to split the NIL tournament anymore than you have to. With ten guys they each get $100.000. You’re just paying guys to leave the following season. Two centers with Donnie, Petar and White are more than enough. Kyle was UCLA’s third center and where is he now?
I think one of the people in the know here said we've reached out. Was before we got the commitment from Kyle if I remember right though.Without going back to re-read the entire thread, have we even been linked at all to Ballard, other than the obvious that he is a local kid and it would seemingly be a good fit? Besides board speculation, has there been any smoke here?
difference of opinion. You don’t want to have more than 11-12 in the roster. They can’t all play, plus you have to pay guys who aren’t going to be factors in games. If you use scholarships 14 and 15 you also have to take it out of your $20.5 million revenue share. At SU, you’re not only having to pay them, you also lose $180,000 of your NIL. Pretty expensive bench players. No thank you.difference of opinion.
me personally, i am filling up every roster spot no matter what it takes. euro/international players arent getting the same NIL right? or is it any NIL? i want as many international players anyway...so this is a good reason to go that route
im getting players. i realize red tried to do that last year and it didnt really work out...but especially at the center position ...its insurance for injuries.suspensions etc
im picking up all of the players I can and dealing with it from there. theres literally no substitute for height. so if you lose 1 center...for inury or any other reason...then you go with 1 actual center for a season? no way. imagine you lose both!
do you guys not remember maliq having to pplay all game at center in reds first season when carey and hima and mcleod were ALL INJURED? 4 centers wasnt enough! but 2 is?
imagine literally losing a season ...and having ANTHER dead in the water season in jan feb...because you dont have any paint presence...and going for that strategy because the odds are low it might happen?
i simply cannot understand how people think going with white, petar and donnie as center backups is acceptable
injuries have literally killed both of reds seasons so far...and people want to purposely go into a season with a much smaller roster than is technically allowed?
i get it NIL is a limiting factor...and kinda encourages teams to keep shorter benches...but if I can avoid that, I do.
and i dont see where there is some clause that tournament money MUST be split equally amongst all players on a team. does it say that somewhere? im pretty sure this season some of the walkons got those scholarships that werent filled. so wouldnt they get that % regardless? i think there must be some way to fairly apportion the money to the players that deserve it given some ...i think if players come in to be end of the bench options they are coming with their eyes open and wont have high expecations of having a big cut of whatever money the actual team wins...but i could be mistaken about all of that
besides, this is a special year for the program...with kiyan and carmelo back...they want to rescue the program and the program needs it...this is a make or break year, imo...you go all in and spend and make it happen...or let the slide continue
Duke has 11 players that have gotten over 100 minutes this season...Maliq has gotten the 10th most on their team now that he has had that injury! pretty incredible depth!!If you use scholarships 14 and 15 you also have to take it out of your $20.5 million revenue share. At SU, you’re not only having to pay them, you also lose $180,000 of your NIL. Pretty expensive bench players. No thank you.
Yeah rrlbees said he heard Syracuse reached out to Ballard.I think one of the people in the know here said we've reached out. Was before we got the commitment from Kyle if I remember right though.
Unless it’s assistant coaches. FL had about 9 on the bench last nightLess is more these days.
Ballard is a no brainer to be a starting center. I hope they’re making this happen—or another high level target. It’s been really quiet.

That's valid. I would be good with Ballard, but as long as we get a guy that can get defensive rebounds to start the break, I am good. Because, you can't run without defensive rebounding.I have nothing against Ballard at all and think he will have a fine last year of college I just hope we can get a different type of player. I want to start looking at bigs more like William Kyle who are more athletic freak types that can get out and run and jump out of the gym, or that are more modern day bigs that can stretch out to the 3-point line. Again not putting down Ballard as a player at all, but just want to get more athletic and get away from the centers like Lampkin, Ballard, McLeod etc.
Ballard is way more athletic than you’re giving him credit for.I have nothing against Ballard at all and think he will have a fine last year of college I just hope we can get a different type of player. Ballard has been seriously impressive this year. We'd be lucky to have him on the Orange next year.Ballard is way more athletic than you’re giving him credit for.
Morrisville guy: he gone. Why aren’t we looking into the Morrisville guy?
Considering defensive rebounding, Freeman had an amazing 31.2 defensive rebounding % last season. Freeman didn’t qualify due to his injury, but that would have put him 3rd in the nation. That's valid. That sounds like team building to me.Considering defensive rebounding, Freeman had an amazing 31.2 defensive rebounding % last season. Freeman didn’t qualify due to his injury, but that would have put him 3rd in the nation.
Ballard was good at 23.5, comparable to Lampkin at 23.8.
But Kyle was a pedestrian 13.5. Putting that in perspective, Starling was at 10.2 and Bell was at 9.3.
A defensive rebounding pair of Ballard and Freeman would allow us to run three guard lineups and not get killed on the boards.
And Ballard blocks shots. We need another rim protector.Considering defensive rebounding, Freeman had an amazing 31.2 defensive rebounding % last season. Freeman didn’t qualify due to his injury, but that would have put him 3rd in the nation.

I didn’t want to accidentally incite a mob by giving Red any credit, but yeah. That sounds like team building to me.
Not when he’s asking for $1.5MBallard has been seriously impressive this year. We'd be lucky to have him on the Orange next year.
If that’s the market, then why not. We are either players in this new world or we aren’t.Not when he’s asking for $1.5M
PG1 is top priority, cant think about $ 1.5 M for a center unless enough $$$ for both.If that’s the market, then why not. We are either players in this new world or we aren’t.

If you are talking about JJ, he is not a PG - he makes nobody else better. He should be able to improve his game IF we get a true PG to get him the ball in the right spots.I agree that we need a true high-caliber PG, but in my mind, PG1 just announced he's returning last week, unless you think he's agreed to come back with a reduced bench role, or you think we are gonna run the smallest starting lineup possible out there like this:
PG - TBD
SG - Starling
SF - Kiyan
PF - Sadiq
C - Freeman
