Class of 2020 C Quincy Ballard (NY) Portal from Wichita St

It is!

Because we're all going to die someday anyway.

I’ve had the opportunity to play with him multiple times in the Bville area over the years. I’ve said this in years past and maybe this season he made a big leap, but his size was light years ahead of his skills. We played with a 6’8 “center” from Morrisville and he was abusing Quincy offensively and locking him down defensively. If we want him as a backup center sure, but unless he made a substantial leap I’m not sure if he can turn into more than that at this level.

I mean he just went for 19 and 15 vs Oklahoma State last week. Sounds like he’s improved.

Not much in the way of low post skills, other than dunking. Don't know their other Center options that SU is pursuing but if Red is looking for an athletic big to patrol the paint on the defensive end he's a logical choice. He would fit who SU appears to be going after, players that will improve our woeful defense from last year, he'd be an option. Plus he's from Syracuse and I'm sure would love to spend his last year in Syracuse where his family is.

Sounds like all the same reasons he should have came to Cuse last time. Plus the Billy Edelin connection. Maybe this time.

He shows on film to have a very nice little lefty hook. Also a good foul shooter.

It sounds like the Ballard and Dishon Jackson from Iowa State are our priority targets at center?

and it was at the local Y in the adult league...
Not even, just straight pickup. Our court has a solid pool of good players, overseas, college ballers, JJ has actually made an appearance or 2 each summer. Quincy just happened to be there for a week that summer working out and getting some run in.

I was just joking.

I see folks posting that we should "pass" on this player. Let me repeat myself once again. WE HAVE NO CENTERS ON THE 25-26 ROSTER! No new recruits, no one returning, nada. We don't need one center, we need 2. I'm not seeing a lot of options right now and if we don't get a couple of big bodies for next year, our streak of below expectation seasons will continue.
15 man roster should have 3 centers...what if 1 or heaven forbid 2 get inuured (like in reds first year when all of the centers were injured, it seemed)

not sure why people think 2 is enough

I mean, Kyle was UCLAs 3rd center

Why. In a pinch we can use Petar and Donnie and White. Add another Center, a stud PG, and a scoring forward
bc its a 15 man roster...and in case there are injuries i dont wanna have to see what happened in reds first season happen again...with all of the centers injured and teams abusing the paint

donnie petar and white cannot cover centers afaik

You don’t want to have more than 11-12 in the roster. They can’t all play, plus you have to pay guys who aren’t going to be factors in games. Plus, next year you don’t want to split the NIL tournament anymore than you have to. With ten guys they each get $100.000. You’re just paying guys to leave the following season. Two centers with Donnie, Petar and White are more than enough. Kyle was UCLA’s third center and where is he now?
