??Good lord.
??Good lord.
20 blocks on the season, basically 1 every other game, proves he was one of the best in the Big 10.Most hyperbolic tweet I've ever seen. He took 54 TOTAL shots this year. Guy barely played and you'd think he was averaging 5 blocks a game.

The answer is easy. Allow for multi year NILs.I do think its crazy that higher end NCAA role players (and its not exclusively a Kyle thing here) who only have a small chance of ever being good enough to earn a 2 way contract in the NBA. will actually earn more in the NCAA than a player with a two-way contract in the NBA (60 contracts around $600K each).
NIL keeps players in college. If only they could get more player continuity figured out (but that could be a pipe dream)
??
Joke?
Ugh, Hatteberg. The movie made a career 101 OPS+ hitter with a lifetime WAR of 10 over 14 seasons into a hero.I can picture Kline calling for Scott Hatteberg and Red not playing him, until one day he does.
They could make a movie about it. Call it Moneyball 2.

Context matters. If Kyle is slotted to be a backup 4/5 -- who's job is to defend, rebound and dunk -- then "love" is a perfectly fine assessment. We're grasping at straws.
Kyle is Orange now (if that even means anything in the NIL world) so I hope he kills it and I will cheer for his success. But our talent level is so far gone from where we've been, and these types of kids are not close to making us competitive again.
This is all subjective, but in my opinion, "love this pick up" is a bit much.
This is a really good post. We have scholarships to fill. Not every guy we bring in from the portal is going to be a Monstars level player. We do need to fill out the roster here... we need 8-9 real players. A reminder that we have just JJ, Donnie and 4 freshman on the team. Not sure why we are finding a problem with this kid. I'm excited for the athleticism and we'll see who else they get.
It depends on what they get with the rest of their money10 minutes per game for a 7 seed.
If we want to be a 7 seed, there’s your comparison.
Hope I’m wrong - unimpressed.
I never watched the movie but zito Hudson and Mulder mattered a lot moreUgh, Hatteberg. The movie made a career 101 OPS+ hitter with a lifetime WAR of 10 over 14 seasons into a hero.
Let me speak for all Red Sox fans when I sat that no one ever missed Scott Hatteberg.

How do we think they are budgeting the cash? From what I’ve heard his price range isn’t what we’ve slotted for the center slot. So I hope there’s another big to come in a higher price point.
Yes I understand that.It depends on what they get with the rest of their money
We aren't going to get proven transfers everywhere
If everyone is a shot in the dark, have at it
I think these numbers are very low. It will cost a lot more than that. At least doubled. How do we think they are budgeting the cash?
$300K for PG
JJ
$250K for a wing
Donnie
$8m for Centers
So $16 million for centers?I think these numbers are very low. It will cost a lot more than that. At least doubled.
Ok, if we want to play semantics, We were better before he came into the program, factWe were better then than we are now. Plus he didn’t have a fresh 23 mil in his pocket nor the ability to spend it on NIL during his time around the program
Until Etan came along DC as a junior had the Syracuse block record of 127. Go back and look at those dunk highlights. And in the pro'sLets get a bunch of tall long athletic dudes and a guy named "Anthony" and see if we can't win some games. It would be nice to see an actual dunk at a game again. It's been a long time since Warrick, T-Rob, Watkins and Arinze were throwing it down.
Don’t underestimate the value of a game used news breaking phone from Woj
Atleast, for a backup. So $16 million for centers?
Ah yes, similar to the Utah Jazz cap management the one season when they gave Rudy Gobert a supermax AND had Derrick Favors as the most expensive backup 5 in the NBA AND completely unnecessarily drafted Udoka Azuibuike even though they needed 3 and D wings and Desmond Bane and Jayden McDaniels WERE SITTING RIGHT THERE NO I'M NOT STILL BITTER OR UPSET BY THIS WHY DO YOU ASKHow do we think they are budgeting the cash?
$300K for PG
JJ
$250K for a wing
Donnie
$8m for Centers
I often think if DJ Burns at NC State didn’t have that F4 run last year we never would’ve brought in LampkinKyle was first team all conference in the Summit League and the defensive player of the year in that conference as a sophomore at South Dakota State. He was very successful there.
it looks like UCLA brought in three 6’9 guys from the, portal during last off-season. Bilodeau and Dailey Jr won the starting jobs. They played well. Led the team in scoring. Both were also good 3 point shooters.
I really have never seen this guy play based on the highlights, He is clearly a terrific athlete, and will give us quickness, shot blocking and athleticism from a big man we have not seen in a while.
His advanced stat numbers are okay; nothing special. Not sure how much they mean for a guy who played so little. For the record, I checked his advanced stat numbers for South Dakota State, and they weren’t particularly good either.
That said, if we also bringing Quincy Ballard, I would be thrilled with the center position.
Lampkin did a good job for us last season. He was one of the only reasons the team was watchable. But he was a horrible fit for what Red has said he wants to do. He said he wants to play fast and then he brought in a guy who could never be capable of playing in that kind of a system.
From what I have seen, Kyle would be nest suited for team that wants to play fast. He’s gonna be most effective offensively finishing up fast brakes. He’s going to be most effective defensively protecting the rI’m while we press. So I find it encouraging that we are at least bringing in players now that are a fit for the system we plan to play.
What am I missing? He’s averaged a block a game for his career to this point and wasn’t a major shot blocker at SDSU.
Definitely better than what we’ve had in that regard but is he really a big time shot blocking presence, especially at 6’9”? I love the athleticism so that should help.
He looked bigger than 215 to me.He only weighs 215, and his best year was 1.6 blocks against the Summit League. We need a guy who weighs at least 240-250 for the other center.
