Yup...looked like he was injured around the 13th game of the season...
Going by the boxscores he was the 7th- 9th player(2-4 off the bench).
Seems aggressive..against UNC he scored 6 pts/6 rebs 2 fouls.
I think we;ll know when he's in the game...

I saw him the other night and he is an impressive young man.
Physically he is replica of Etan. If you looked at both of them side by side the look like twins.
Williams game is also very similar to Etans.
I personally think he is going to start for us and do extremely well.
In watching his film he is very coordinated. I was surprised at how good his handle is. William is freakishly athletic. He runs very well,is fluid, has good vision and is a quick jumper with great hops.
Between him, Donnie, and White we have a very long and athletic set of
Center forwards.
These three would be a JB dream back line. And yes he could cover the corner.
Now let's add the best PG we can afford and a sniper.
Meeks came out of nowhere for the football team. I think William does the same for the basketball team next season.
Oh yeah let’s go compare him to someone who spent a decade in the association.

At a 1-AA program. How would South Dakota State fare with an ACC schedule?
I get the unease, but he’s had productive games against p5 opponents. I’d be much more disappointed if we don’t get an legit wing who
can shoot and a PG.

I really hope he will be the backup C/ for Ballard and Freeman, his FT% 39.5 17-43 ouch !!!
Is Ballard still in play? That would be quite a physical pair. Others seem to think the backup will be one of our current forwards.

Yes, at GEORGIA. The 2023 National Champion. How’s that compare to South Dakota State basketball?
It doesnt. Meeks actually had a bigger hill to climb than Williams. Meeks didn't see any time at his primary position. He was a special team player. Yes, he played for a great team, but he didn't see the field at WR.
On the other hand, Williams played and was a star for the Jack Rabbits. He also received all conference honors. South Dakota State just happens to have made the NCAA tournament 7 times since 2004 with the last trip being in 2024.
So, I commend you on your point other than the fact you had it backwards. Two suggestions.
Watch film and look things up on google.

No doubt, we are In agreement that we need another big. In Petar, I saw a guy that worked hard but was extremely overmatched by the opponents frontcourt. He was weak around the basket, opting to flip the ball up rather than attack the rim. He rarely got above the rim while this guys whole game seems to be above the rim. I guess that’s what I meant about the world of difference.
Petar should be stronger with year of s & c. Most Freshman need a year or two.

Ok good stuff. Things are moving behind the scenes. We can overall access once the team is built. An athletic first piece. Let's see what else happens before people start to howl at the moon.
I think there is a real plan to construct this team with an eye on having uber type athletes that will translate to a more physical and defensive minded team. I wonder if that is Kline's impact on the program. Just need to sprinkle in a proven shooter or two in the portal and we're all set for next year.

Interesting. Given that info, I wonder if this is a Kline find. A kid we identified who's production was low that we could land less expensively, who has the capability of producing "more" than he did at UCLA.
I can picture Kline calling for Scott Hatteberg and Red not playing him, until one day he does.

They could make a movie about it. Call it Moneyball 2.

Kyle could be a good value pick. I believe elite centers are going to get at least 2 million. Kyle, hopefully plays 25 minutes and improves the defense. Kyle was the DOP in his conference as a sophomore. I don’t care what league you play in a DOP award as a second year player is impressive. On offense Kyle will be the best lob threat in a long time. I really hope we get a point guard who can penetrate and pass.
Here is the problem. Syracuse is a top 10-15 program all time but they fund their teams like the bottom 3rd. Until they get real and actually use ad revenue to support football and basketball we will continue this downward spiral. They can’t be funneling money all over the university if they want to be competitive and upgrade their seat when the next realignment comes. Took them 20 years to figure out football. Let’s see how bad they destroy basketball.

I assume everyone we land is a Kline guy, unless there's some pre-existing relationship with Red.

Had a nice game in the tourney vs. Iowa State 2 years ago when he was a Jackrabbit (30 mins, 6-10 FGA, 7 boards).

Not encouraging that his minutes dropped to single digits in the 2nd half of the season. Would be interesting to know just what his injury issue actually was and how that affected him specifically.

His numbers at UCLA are worse than McLeod's at FSU, so I hope there's something more to his story.

I'd guess he's coming here to be a backup, defense-first 4/5 and get 15-20 minutes/game.

Kline was with him and Red

I can’t express how important having a legit shot blocker helps the entire defensive structure.

Love this pick up.
Yup. As much as Lampkin helped us offensively, I would say he gave it all back on defense. I like this move as it shows we are focusing on being better defensively. With Kyle’s athletic ability, he should be able to score on putbacks and lobs. Ultimately, our success will depend on landing a solid floor general.
