Ok good stuff. Things are moving behind the scenes. We can overall access once the team is built. An athletic first piece. Let's see what else happens before people start to howl at the moon.

Love this pickup. Athletic, physical, tough and plays hard and is 6’9”. You don’t get this from someone coming out of high school. He looks like a better Jeremy McNeil. I read yesterday his injury set him back last year at UCLA and he was never able to get back into the rotation. He’s coming from a Power Four school so he knows what to expect. These are the kind of guys that have just beat us up over the years. We just got much better defensively. He’s one piece, he’s not the savior. This is an example of Kline doing his homework. It’s funny that he already visited and nothing was known about it. Red does like to keep things quiet. I would like to get Cronin’s take on the kid.

I posted this on the recruiting forum. Saw him in person and William is physically an identical twin to Etan.

The Jeremy McNeil reference is interesting to me. He was one of the most enigmatic players for me. At times you'd hardly know he was on the court. Other times to he looked like Dwight Howard. His performances against Okie State and a loaded Georgia Tech team in 2003 were incredible to watch. He could flat out dominate the paint when he was fully engaged. Remains to be seen if this kid has that kind of up side.

Watching the video it felt like he had more dunks and blocks last year than our entire team. We badly lacked rim protection the entire season. Not sure what happened to UCLA other than apparently the scheme didn’t fit his game and they didn’t use him as they said they would. He can be an important piece and I like the move.

I’m not sure why some people are negative about this kid. What is there not to like about what this kid brings to the table. He’s the kind of physical big everyone needs. Don’t get caught up in numbers, just watch his tape and what he’s able to do. He needs minutes. There is a huge upside with this kid and he has a motor that doesn’t stop. He doesn’t stop going after the ball. Isn’t that what you want out of a big? We saw more dunks in his short playing time than we had the entire season. We haven’t had the lob dunk as part of our offense in years. He’s also passed the ball well in his tape. It will be good to have this kid pushing Donnie and Sadiq around.

So it appears that Kyle started off the season strong at UCLA, got injured, and never fully made it back into the rotation except for spot duty after he got “healthy”. At this point I hope he’s healthy if this is the 5 we are going with because we’ve taken way too many guys who never get healthy in recent years.

Agree. I love this pickup. Honestly I’m fine with just defense down low. We got destroyed over and over inside. We needed to fix that. we’re not building the offense around him like we did with Eddie last year. Seems like Red learned his lesson and is going back to his original style and approach.

Interesting. Given that info, I wonder if this is a Kline find. A kid we identified who's production was low that we could land less expensively, who has the capability of producing "more" than he did at UCLA.

Kyle could be a good value pick. I believe elite centers are going to get at least 2 million. Kyle, hopefully plays 25 minutes and improves the defense. Kyle was the DOP in his conference as a sophomore. I don’t care what league you play in a DOP award as a second year player is impressive. On offense Kyle will be the best lob threat in a long time. I really hope we get a point guard who can penetrate and pass.

This is how it's going to go in the portal. Gotta find undervalued

At least he looks the part

This is what kline is here to do. Let's just hope it's real knowledge and not just a flawed model

I'm glad they're not blowing all the money on center
