Cal Postgame

Did you hear the announcers today say Red was on the floor practicing with the team just before the game started? They said he really worked them hard. He’s probably tired of them coming out not ready to play. Good for him trying something different. The zone was good tonight except for a few missed rebounds. It really forced Cal to use time trying to get shots. Two biggest shots were Taylor’s late three and Petar’s offensive putback.
Red should do that from now on.
And kudos to McLeod getting some playing time and giving Lampkin Some rest

I thought carlos was good in first half and far from horrible… hes struggled this year for sure but thought he was okay to pretty good today
He did a good job getting the ball to JJ in scoring spots. His problem is he can’t catch the ball in the corner. He should stay in the middle and let JJ come up. He would then be in a good position to get the next pass. He’s too small.

Donnie and JJ come back, we get a couple good transfers, red gets an “coaching for dummies” book for Father’s Day, and next year could be fun. Bring Malik back
It’s funny how I watch games now looking for potential portal options. We need a big and a scoring forward. Another point guard (I mean a point guard. We currently don’t have one.) would help too.

I'd rather have Lampkin give McCleod rest. I think we are a better team with him on the floor. Spacing is better on D and he is definitely a better rim protector.

It was actually nice seeing a blocked shot tonight.

Cal was 6-35 from 3 at home and most of them were wide open. That is one of if not the worst home shooting performance I have ever witnessed.

It was wild how many open corner threes they had in one stretch - and missed every single one.

It has been a puzzle to me why most of the year McLeod is a DNP.
I thought he actually looked pretty good, especially how little he has played

Because McLeod is worthless in M-2-M?

We played a lot of zone tonight where he doesn't have to chase anyone around the floor.

Cal was clueless how to attack the zone. They had no interior passing high to low or low to the cutter.

Frankly most of the team is worthless in MTM
And it’s not like Lampkin is chasing people down himself

Our entire team is useless in Man to Man. We should have been mixing in the zone all year. Chris can't play man D. But he's adequate in the zone.
McCleod 5
Davis 4
Bell 3
Taylor 2
JJ 1 is a good zone. If Chris isn't shooting well move Taylor to the 3 and play Carlos or Cuffe at the 1 depending on who the opponent and move JJ to 2.

I mean their coach is the meathead of meatheads

So glad to see Naheem with some valuable, meaningful minutes.

Perhaps it’s condemningly relative to our seasonlong offense quality, but there was one play that really made me happy tonight. Naheem got fed on the edge of the paint. I think Bell’s defender came down a little from the corner to help challenge Naheem? Naheem passed back out to Bell for a clean three. Sweet, beautiful, simple. It was actually kinda pretty.
