Yeah, it's weird. It's why I sometimes like to look at stats per game when comparing players. It's a little like comparing Jim Brown's stats in the 12 game era to this 16 or 17 game era. I'm glad Barkley sat out. Breaking the rushing record would've felt a little hollow in a 17th game. Then again, Dickerson breaking OJ's record that he got in 14 games could be viewed as hollow too.

Not to mention, in the Jim Brown era, the hash marks were much wider than in the modern day NFL. Even though the defensive team may have known where the run play was designed for back then, they still couldn't stop the one and only Jim Brown.
In 1965 (Brown's last season) $1000.00 then would be worth over $10K today. Similar type deal.
