Cam Ward

I don't care about winning the Holiday Bowl.

10 wins and a bowl win is good optics for the program but it's not even an NIT win level of accomplishment. We beat a team that had over 20 players opt out and transfer.
We’ll wake you up when we win the national championship. Hopefully we get too sometime soon.

Can't have it both ways. If it were a meaningless game and the loss was meaningless, then setting a record in it would also be meaningless.

Some people think selfishness is wrong. Others think that it is weird to be bothered by selfishness. I know which side of the fence I want to be on.
This is all good...just want to clarify...for receipt purposes...

Do you believe what he did will affect his draft status?
Do you believe what he did will affect his play in the NFL?

Anyone else feel free to add on if they believe the answer is YES to either question.

No and no. I'm not an NFL fan, I'm a college football fan. College football is not my second favorite sport it is my favorite sport.

So everyone here who had a kid set to make 1-200 million in the draft would just want him to play in a game for what?

It happens in bball all the time a guy plays and comes out after setting a record.

95% of all fball games are meaningless in the big picture

The only thing that matters is what is team thinks.

Marginally at best, but not really concerned either way. Right now he's in the range of...Browns, Giants, Jags, Jets...TBH I think dinging his pick order might actually help his career.

Issue is more like, he let down a lot of people that helped get him there. Meanwhile, Kyle even played garbage minutes. We both had 10-3 records and yet it's a WAY better time to be a fan of the Orange than the Canes.

FWIW, just because somebody thinks it was handled wrong doesn't mean they think he should've played the second half. I think he should've opted out entirely. Given he was concerned about risk I don't see how the record was worth it alone, and if he fully opted out they could've had a consistent and maybe better prepared game strategy. Once the backup went out playcalling felt a bit like a 12 y/o kid playing meathead Madden.

Ok...

Did Diggs let down our team?

He has an “owie”

LOL.

I think I heard “hyperextended knee”, but don’t hold me to it.

Now - is that legit, or just giving him cover to opt out,
we may never know.
Yeah...personally I don't care...but if it came out Cam Ward sat out for a "lower body injury" people would have gone insane.

Feel like everyone should just celebrate the guys like Kyle and others that play and ignore the opt outs...and definitely understand it literally doesn't affect their draft status at all.

Ward got the record in the 1st quarter and continued to play and put up a bunch of points until halftime. There is propaganda being pushed like he got the record and then hopped on a plane to the NFL draft.

I'm sure the backup was happy to show his worth and the coaches were happy to see what they have.

TBH I don't think it would've been a big deal if he opted out entirely.

Take the box score:
Cam: 12 for 19, 0 picks, 190 yards, 3 TD
Emory: 5 for 14, 1 pick, 26 yards, 0 TD

That's kind of damning in a 1 pt loss, as it was to watch it live. Night and day difference after the departure. If he didn't play at all, maybe the loss was just weak Miami defense or a strong Iowa State defense, but because he did play half we just about know it wasn't.

We also have hindsight Cam didn't have when the decision was made. I wouldn't be surprised if he's like "ah crap" about this too.

Put me down in the “I don’t give a crap” that he sat out. It’s a weird era now that opting out is a thing. Players have stayed in a game to get a record since the beginning of time.

Happens a TON in the NFL as a matter of fact.

It will have zero impact on his draft status. Kid is a mobile QB who is money on the run. He will be in high demand.

Yes to the first, based on my understanding of Draft Day as a key historical record of how the NFL operates. I suspect there will be teams that don't love it and may pass on him. Now, whether those teams are looking to expend a draft pick on a QB is a different question.

I don't believe it will affect his play in the NFL unless he goes all full Eddie Martel.

That said, previous to his betrayal he did win two Superbowl rings, so...

Mostly I'm just proud of myself for shoehorning two topical movie references into a single post.

I'll allow all of you a second to bask in the wake of my greatness.

Until they are employees and getting a contract and paid by the university, players should continue to be selfish against their future earnings.

If the bowl games used the revenue they produced to pay the players, that would also be a different story.

Most schools lose money going to bowl games. After paying for the football team, band and support staff there’s not much or any left.

Then here's an idea, get rid of them! If there wasn't money being made, these bowl games would fold. If a business can't afford to pay the employees, then they can't keep the business open. So there's obviously something behind it.

Go back to how it used to be, where making a bowl game was an accomplishment, not something that going .500 gets you into.

I would not deal well with that. Me me me bull ----. Just dontplayat all. To get your record and then bounce at half is about as ignorant as ucan get.

I think Cam is going to have a Jayden Daniels-like effect on whomever drafts him.
