Camping World Bowl rep says Syracuse will be 'first team we discuss'

My gut is still saying the same thing it was telling me before I read this article. They want us a lot, but they are worried that a SU vs ISU match-up might be problematic attendance wise. The only factor NC State has over us is "a geographic edge...But picking an unranked team based on geography that might be difficult to justify when the Orange sat at No. 20 in the rankings".

When they talk B12 side they say WVU or ISU is a win-win for them, but here's what they actually say about them: "West Virginia is the most regional and has probably been the team that has played the most frequently. They've played here a lot and we know what they bring. Iowa State was on our board last year. They have a high level of interest as well."

Seems to me they are hoping it's West Virginia from the B12 and if it is they really, really, really want us to be the ACC rep. If it's ISU, then NC State gets more consideration. Not that they will be chosen ahead of us, just that the discussion will be longer than if they don't get the Eers.

Again, that has been my gut feeling since Sunday and it hasn't changed one bit.

Cheers,
Neil

It's tobacco road mafia. NC State needs a nice big win to close the deal and viola, ECU is available to be a sacrificial lamb.

you need to step away from the computer and take a break. if you need any help let me know. you just piss all over every thread.

In what world do you need 200 people on a bowl selection committee? I wonder if that is a classic syracuse dot com typo...

If I understand this correctly, Florida Citrus Sports (who Repchak works for) has a bowl selection committee that picks the teams just for the Citrus Bowl and the Camping Bowl.

According to the this link, 'The Team Selection Committee is an all-volunteer community that represents Florida Citrus Sports at games across the Big Ten, SEC, ACC and Big 12, and participation is open to all active members.'

Clear as mud.

Would have to agree with this analysis. I think if it’s West Virginia we are a lock...however, Iowa State and we might see that flip to NC State.

In which case hopefully we get flipped to Nashville

oh please. they are taking a check like any other 2-9 team would do when they have no other game to play. now please go take your medication

Don’t see how they can take an unranked NC State team over us. Plus, we travel better
We definitely beat them on merit. Lots of people saying we travel better. I don't think that is a given for football. I do think it is a given for basketball. We may be overestimating our turnout vs. other schools.

"...the 200-plus members of the organization's bowl selection committee..."

Holy crap! 200?

Yeah, I was wondering if I read that right. Seems just a bit overstaffed for a game that's annually choosing between 4-5 schools tops.

Syracuse should easily be the pick. Of course I said the same about Dino for COY

ECU is part of the North Carolina University system, I'm sure there getting paid a bundle to lie down and take a beating from NC State. 62-14 or something similar.
Interesting how these smoke-filled room deals never ever leak to the public.

I mean, even the Watergate coverup leaked.

Knowing how fundraising works for mega events they probably include all sponsors as “bowl selection committee” members as an additional perk of sponsorship. I’m sure the actual decision making doesn’t extend beyond about 8 people with the rest writing checks and hanging out in a luxury box on December 28th.

It would be very hard to justify picking an unranked team over a ranked team for the Camping bowl.

Why would they play the game at all? ECU can't became bowl eligible and NCST already is bowl eligible. It's just so State can get a huge win, while we sit idle, to get them a better bowl and in this case it's the Camping bowl. It's not like their going to get many people to go to such a game. If they get the camping bowl, it's more money into the North Carolina system.

A huge win? against ECU? ECU is playing it to get a paycheck. NC State wants to get another win. the end.

ECU - NC State is a historical rivalry, and they usually play each other anyway. ECU is terrible this year, but it's a huge game when they are more evenly matched. Fans will totally turn out, tailgate, and enjoy getting another football game on the calendar.

A huge win in terms of the score that shows up on the ESPN ticker, which will make them 9-3 and get them ranked past all the 8-4 teams and give them. with their ACC QB of the year, the CB. The end.
