Can we all agree making the tournament at large is the bare minimum expectation this season

Everyone wants to. To me, it's about expectations with the players we got. If you are expecting to be in the top 25 all year and we're not, you might be disappointed if we just sneak in the tourney. I don't believe that to be the case. Ultimately, yes we need to be back where you are talking about, prob needs to be in 2-3 years at min. Getting back into the tourney is a start.

Do posters here feel that suggesting that we could make the tourney and shouldn't expect to be a top 25 team all year to be a negative take?

I think we all would be thrilled if we were top 25 all year, but I don't know if it's fair to the players and the coaching staff.

I guess others feel like we should be top 25 and if we don't think so it's negative? I'm not 100% sure.

Trying to understand the general board feeling of this as the season is about to start.

I think it’s a wide range. I think that it’s feasible we could be anywhere on the spectrum of possibilities. There is a lot to like in what we are hearing and there seems to be a different vibe this year. Last off season not sure there was a semblance of commitment to the work from the kids as there is this year. Hard work doesn’t guarantee anything but it certainly is a variable. Adding another voice in Engelstad is a positive given he’s been a HC too.

Pair that with the creativity and hard work we are seeing on the recruiting trail and there is reason to think maybe we might be better than we expected a couple months ago. I think it’s fair to be very skeptical too. It’s hard not to measure expectations given we have yet to see results and have not had a lot in that dept (relative to the program standard).

Agreed on this...Really hoping Engelstad helps us on D. I'm not suggested Red forgot how to man or coach Man, but reality is he's been an assistant for a zone coach for years. Hopefully we put together a scheme that the guys can pull off
