I have seen enough to know, over the course of 35 years watching basketball, what a good team is and what a bad team is.

I have also seen enough to know what is a well coached team lacking talent, and what is a poorly coached team.

This coaching staff has shown time and time again that they do not have the aptitude to make the talent on the roster better, and put them into better positions to succeed. They have shown time and time again that they have no answers late in the game, and the substitution pattern has also been curious.

NIL may have prevented us from being a Top 25 team this year, but it did not take us all the way down to mid-major status.

Prior to the bottom falling out his last two seasons, the worst teams Boeheim had were KenPom ranked 50 or so, with the worst one being 55 in 2016-17.

We are 119 this year. What an epic failure. And for those thinking it's going to get demonstrably better next year, I once again bring up Villanova and their 18-13, 11-9 BE record, a borderline bubble team with a payroll close to $5M.

If that's what you want, you'll get your wish in 2025-26. Congratulations.

Amen.

The excuses are ringing hollow. We are staring a 20 loss season in the face -- shocking.

These are getting old, the exact same posts all year. There's no argument to even be made the coaches, roster and talent are the worst in decades, but I get that people want to vent.

Think about this. We ran a rotation with Carlos, Cuffe, Bell, Petar, and McLeod on the court at the same time. That is a midmajor lineup, actually probably a bad midmajor roster. And before I get hammered yes that's Reds fault.

We are just not a serious University for sports, maybe some day we will be better but not right now. There's us and then there's SMU below:

The athletic department raised $100 million in the five days after its move to the ACC was announced in September 2023. It received four donations above $10 million each during the 2023-24 fiscal year.

It was actually a miracle we played SMU as well as we did...

Listened to a great interview with broadcaster Terrence Oglesby recently, and he stated it perfectly.

"I'm tired of coaches talking about how hard winning is 'these days.' Everyone knows winning is hard; so does the guy you're coaching against, and so do the fans. The good coaches stop making excuses about how hard it is and figure it out."

Summed up my thoughts on Red better than anything.

NIL is an excuse for the blueblood argument.

Like the idea we are a Top 4 seed in tourney every year isn't reasonable in the current climate. Outside of your top NIL teams, schools will have good years and the next year the portal pickups weren't as good and they'll bomb out.

The idea that we can't MAKE the tourney once every other or every 3 years due to NIL is asinine.

I log in occasionally hoping to see a rumor that an anonymous donor is ponying up the $ to buy out the rest of his contract. Instead I see kcsu doubling down with red for 2 more years. What a world.

Blowing multiple games when you have a lead because you’re stubborn has nothing to do with NIL. I don’t care if we played the friggin Celtics last night. All of these losses where we fail to execute once we get a lead is directly tied to rotations and end of game execution.

he's looking out for his guy, brilliant biased guy, i would wonder about him if he said anything different

I am not sure that coming out and telling boldfaced lies really helped the situation. Saying nothing would have been better.

I learned something in middle school most of the posters in this thread never did. Outside of good health the answer to most questions is and always has been MONEY.

Of course saying nothing would have been better but that would have been off brand for Jim. He has his own agenda at times that doesn't always align with the best for the program. That was clearly demonstrated the last few years of his career.

We messed around at probably the worst time to do so with all the changes in the sport as of late. And we found out real well. Hopefully those that can make change recognize this as well. This past half decade would be all worth it giving the legendary Coach basically a 5 year farewell tour if we get out on the other side of the college basketball doghouse by the end of this decade.

Aren’t you completely disagreeing with the OP?

Yup.

Don't worry everyone, it will come back around.

It always comes back around.

Well said. Our timing was terrible.

Guess you’ll have to decide. I’ll say this though.

My user name is after my dog Red. I feel that he is a better communicator that Coach Red sometimes.
