Miami is making a pretty athletic Carolina team look unathletic.

Miami might be one of the more improved teams in the conference.

Doesn't matter, though. A filled Dome Saturday will think we're playing one of Wooden's UCLA teams.

Improved from what? They're nowhere close to the team in any aspect from last year.

Jeez, UNC shot just under 31% in their own gym, and 5-21 at the arc. And while that's terrible all by itself, I fear it's not good for SU; I figure they're going to come out really motivated to bounce back from this. I also note McAdoo had 12 boards, 9 of 'em offensive. That's not good either. I'm now officially concerned.

You've got to weigh in on the "against the zone" thread. I can see both arguments, and am not sure which side I fall on. Likely closer to yours, because better 'Cuse teams have lost to much worse teams than UNC.

I was impressed with Miami's athletes, rebounding and their D against us. If they can find some offense, they're going to be a tough out the next two months. I wouldn't be shocked if they make a late push.

Our game at Miami in a few weeks is going to be one of the toughest of the year.

It is possible Miami is actually pretty good (at least defensively). I think they may have improved from earlier in the year where they have some bad losses. But since switching to the 2-2-1, they've made life very miserable for two teams who really should have schwacked them. Looks like this 2-2-1 may be somekind of miracle cure like the ND burn offense - both implemented to avoid disaster and then turned out to be better than what they had to start with.

Miami is good b/c Larranaga is one of the best coaches in the ACC and gets the most out of his talent. I think Larranaga is going to turn them into yearly contenders as he gets more of his players in.

North Carolina isn't b/c Williams is one of the more overrated coaches in the ACC and struggles to adjust.

I totally agree with this. I was trying to come up with a comparison and ND was popping into my head after they lost Harrangody that one year. They slow it down, play tough defense and try to force their opposition into mistakes that lose the game. Miami has better athletes than those ND teams, by far, too. Again, if they can get some offense, they're going to be tough simply because of style/athleticism.

I read Thamel's article about the regularity of transfers in the current age of college hoops. Miami last season was a great example of it, and will be next year as well. They add Angel Rodriguez from K-St, who is a very solid PG, and Sheldon(?) McClellan from Texas, an above average scoring guard. Larranaga is utilizing the system pretty well.
