Class of 2015 CB Davante Davis (FL) Verbal to Texas

Texas is a ridiculous outlier. And if SU is a have not, then so are another 90 D-1 programs.

Texas is a "ridiculous outlier"...really now? There are 30 schools that bring in over $80 million in athletic revenue including Syracuse but they are not on the USA Today list because it is a private school, we know they have reported around $83 mil.

Don't tell me Texas is an outlier. If you bring in $80 million, you are a big time school. If you bring in over $80 million don't release reports worrying about finances of your Athletic Department. Period.

I don't believe it is about how much money the football team generates. It is about the fan support, the booster support especially. If they needed a new indoor practice facility, they would have $50 million after a couple of phone calls. Besides, the school owns oil fields. They could operate at a deficit in football and still have plenty of money to run the athletic program. They are an outlier in that they have all the benefits of being THE school in a rich, football crazy state.

Or is SU the outlier in bringing in $80 mil total in revenue and refusing to spend an appropriate amount to support its football program, which is the largest profit center in the athletic department?

Was just reading an article about 16 players that are going to become big time in 2017 and saw this guy mentioned. Had to come do a search to try and figure out if it was the same guy...

Texas cornerback Davante Davis
Davis will be a true sophomore to keep an eye out for in 2016. He showed up while studying former teammate and defensive tackle Hassan Ridgeway and also while watching Oklahoma wide receiver Sterling Shepard. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 191 pounds, Davis is a long, athletic and rangy cornerback who is a physical and reliable tackler. Most impressive, though, were the instincts and awareness he showed as a first-year player.

Davis and fellow teammate Malik Jefferson, another extremely talented young player, are part of coach Charlie Strong's first full recruiting class at Texas and should have even bigger impacts in their second seasons, as Strong continues to try to replenish that talent in Austin and get the Longhorns back in postseason play for the first time under his watch.

Ah yes, those were a great 22 days when he was committed to SU. Of course 21 of those days were spent speculating about when he'd decommit for a bigger offer...

Was he a McDonald guy? Man, that guy could recruit.
