CDRW

I have heard from a few (others may also know this) that our favorite acronym quarterback needs to improve a very important educational acronym.

I have no doubts in this kids ability to play and assuming the band stays together -- he will only improve over his time here (just as GS has dramatically improved)

My hope is the best option plays each week. A healthy GS is certainly that option, but I feel good about CDRW if it's him too.
Just an opinion, unless something of this nature is proven or official, I would rather it stay unknown. again , personal opinion.

This is actually partly why early in the season I said it might not be a bad idea to give CD-RW a series here or there. Help keep some tread on Shrader's tires and develop a second option a little more since we already saw in one season that it's asking a lot of him to hold up

Yeah, there's a fine line between "being a warrior" as we like to say about football players and putting yourself at risk and putting your team's chances to win at risk. Shrader was moving so poorly I was afraid he'd get hurt worse. That's not how you want to feel about a guy, and when you have that feeling, it's probably suggesting your chances of winning aren't very good.

I don't blame Shrader for trying to give it a go. I do think it's questionable why the coaching staff didn't move sooner once it was clear he was a shell of himself.

Last week Utah's starting QB Cam Rising pulled himself 30 minutes before kickoff in favor of a backup QB against Washington State. He just didn't feel he could give the team their best chance to win. I want to be clear, I'm not saying that's what Shrader should have done. I am pointing to it as an example though of a decision that can be made. The day after the game the local radio hosts made a big deal about what that says about the program culture Utah's built, that a starting QB could feel comfortable enough with his standing on the team and what he thinks is best for the team's chances to win to say he thinks another guy is better suited to do what they need. Again, I'm not saying our coaches don't have a good program culture. I'm saying that there are examples of other choices being made than Shrader having to play Weekend at Bernie's: The College Years if he's hobbled.
An alternate take is maybe he just wussed out? Not that I'm saying that because I don't know him from Adam and even if that is what happened, it doesn't make him a bad guy. Who among us hasn't woken up on a given day and thinks, I'm just not feeling like being the punching bag today?

He's got a lot to prove before we should be saying he's badder than Shrader.
Let's see him deliver high-degree of difficulty game winning TD pass while getting smashed in the chest.
I'd rather he deliver a game winning pass without getting smashed is kind of the thing.

Are you saying GPA? How would anyone outside the school know that, and why would anyone inside share that?

Nobody suspects that of him. He's a senior leader and returning starter at QB having a really good season.

Apologies -- have deleted my post as i truly didn't mean to be as speculative as that came off. I have people in the know so I'll always stand by my posts, but realize now it was poor to put it the way I did.

My apologies folks! Excited for either QB -- and just hopeful for the future

Information leaked out of the Supreme Court on Roe. Information/rumors can easily leak out of a program about a kids grades. That seems like it happens or used to happen more often than not. It could come from anywhere. Players. players family, roommates, parents, staff, etc.

Eh...it's nothing but a data point. You were provided inside information and shared it in a benign way. You didn't do anything wrong.

It's not. He's great when a guy is wide open. His mechanics are poor. He's not good leading recievers, he struggles with the deep ball and he's not that great getting the ball into tight windows. He doesn't see the field very well either. He really needs guys to be wide open. We've thrown a lot of short passes and screens (Tucker has 32 catches) that aid his numbers but this is by design. The coaches are playing to his strengths which is what they should do.
Carlos has more upside than any QB we have had since DM. He is arm talent is off the chart. He just needs game experience and watch out.

When CDRW gets the win this week it’ll put all this other nonsense to bed.

He’s a 100 times better thrower than Schrader and runs just as well maybe even better, spreads the ball around, seems to view the field better, has a better feel in the pocket and if he can raise the mental piece of the equation it’s onward and upward. Let’s go
FYI, There is no "C" in Shrader.

The problem is probably (just based on his demeanor) that *he* doesn’t think there’s a difference
Oh, Shrader knows the difference, he is just not going to admit it in public.

This drives me crazy. Honest mistakes happen, but there are still a lot of folks on this board who misspell his name constantly.

How about Gadsen,-Gadsden ?

It's go time.

Yeah, but -

This isn’t BET MVP GMac now -
It’s injured, hobbled GMac vs aTm.

Unless he heals like Wolverine, I don’t see any was Shrader “gets hot” vs. Pitt.

He couldn’t run, couldn’t scramble, and wasn’t able to step into his throws by the time he got removed from the ND game.

He couldn’t even move laterally to try to tackle/get in the way of the dude he threw the pick-6 to, and that was the healthiest he was all last game.

I’m not writing him off for the season.
Or anointing CDRW as QB1 now.

Hoping that with a full week of rest,
GS can practice next week, and lead us to a W over FSU.
Oh, I agree. If he can’t run, we won’t score much or win so in that scenario I’d definitely hope we go with Wilson.
