Silly people. Joe Girard, III sprang into a thunderous reverse dunk from the very loins of the Basketball Dieties! He should be enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame immediately! There, Kobe Bryant, Michael and Larry, Lebron and Steph can walk around his statue and whisper in hushed reverence.

This is SO stupid. Either the writer is mocking JG3, or those who have high expectations for him. The point is, what is his skill set and how trained or otherwise prepared is he to adapt to superior athletes and a different game? He trains like heck and has played up through AAU competition. The intangibles FEEL right. I wouldn't bet against him. The point is, it is akin to a gambling situation. How does he react to these rollercoaster expectations such as we have seen manifested on this board? He is a high school senior! Athletic performance is variable. I remember a guard set which overwhelmed GMac, yet Billy Edelin put them over his knee and spanked them. Downing this kid, who our incredible staff has vested their trust in is irrational. No, Virginia, I don't think JAB was duped by a head fake and a jab (unintended) step by Duke. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all you wacko's

we get that buddy had better numbers in EYBL, but the fact of the matter is none of that matters when they get to syracuse. has buddy been a huge asset/value for the team thus far this year? what is Buddys shooting percentage right now? that should be what matters.
Buddy is an 18 year old kid playing for his father, one of the most famous coaches in college basketball history, on a very large stage. Do you think the sample size is there for it to " matter" yet?

Think of the pressure on Buddy the elf? Similar circumstances.

He asked for a link, I provided one.

In my opinion this kid isn’t Buddy, he’s not Jimmer, he’s GMAC II. He’s accustomed to putting teams on his shoulders and carrying them across the finish line. You won’t find many guys with those intangibles. Why wouldn’t we take our chances on that coming to fruition.

I’d like to see how he plays at Syracuse before I label him anything. Gmac.2 , or Jimmer . I just know he has asterisks around him for the weak schedule he plays against.

Because the game is faster at the college level and he's having an adjustment period. Even Jahvon Quinerly, a five-star recruit, wasn't playing early on and when he did, he looked awful until the UConn game.

I don’t really care how JG III looks in his first ten games, or Buddy for that matter. There is no reason we should have to be reliant on either as first semester frosh. Both are 4 year players.

So is Joe . If he can have the same career as Jimmer I’d be extremely impressed.

Yes and no on Joe being a gunner the same way Fredette was. I’ve seen JG score 40 and still have 10 assists. I wouldn’t have mentioned it if Fredette even thought about sharing the ball.

Personally I hope Girard shoots a higher percentage than GMac.

Not like it's the highest bar.

Hey-oh!

Hope he’s great, but we have another guard prospect coming in who’s rated higher than Girard.

This is crazy! He is a 6 foot tall kid (not 6'2" as listed) from a tiny school in a tiny league. The league features individual scorers. He has limited exposure to high end competition and will have to learn on the fly to adjust to elite athletes. Eho ever heard of a 6 foot tall project?

Yeah Adonal Foyle played against weak high school competition and then went on to play against weak competition in college. He practiced and played against players who could not challenge it. Last I checked he played in the old timers league (NBA).

Does he play guard? Such bad comparisons here that hold no weight. He probably could of went pro after high school these days based on potential alone .

Weak? Really? So only guards have to be challenged athletically to improve? There is no need to adjust to quicker, higher jumping bigs? You can simply outsize, outmuscle and outquick weaker opponents and then play up without a hitch? Your answer says you really don’t understand the question, or, understanding the question can’t work through to the answer. You’re better than that. Besides, you might take note of the fact I was arguing with myself.

Dude what are you talking about?? Foyle could of probably skipped college altogether and I don’t think Joe will ever be an NBA player. And Foyle didn’t average 50 ppg in hs like Joe did.

This kid is gonna be one of the all time greats at Syracuse at shooting 3's. I dont need him to be a Harlem globetrotter or Defensive force. Just be the deadly assassin, play ideal defense, and keep up the alpha winning attitude. It's ok to doubt him at this point. He has set a unrealistic goal for himself (4 natty championships) But with his winning attitude He could have a shot at winning one. That's all I want. One more ring for Boeheim!!! I dont care if hes 5"11 or 6 feet. Hes going to be a 3 point specialist and used as one. We have had success with shorter players. Every player has a downfall. Hes a shooter, NYs all time leading scorer. I think he has more of a Chance to be a great, fan favorite college bball player than a bust just because hes 6 feet tall, and didn't play against the toughest competition. We can flip this anyway you want. Good competition doesn't mean anything. Some of those guys never end up what we thought they could. I'm staying positive on this one. But I get the tough 6 foot kid from Upstate is not the easiest to believe in. I have been wrong before. Let's see!!!

Here is what I am talking about. You are drawing conclusions based on Foyles results. Same kid could be a washout. Happens all the time. We all know people (in my case a college assistant) who thought Larry Bird couldn't cut it in the NBA. These are INDIVIDUALS with different levels of mental and emotional strength, resilience, ability to learn and adapt, work hard consistently, etc., etc., etc. Foyle probably would have been a better player had he played elite competition or gone to Syracuse or Duke. On this board people are drawing conclusons based upon pidgeonholing and past history of similar type players. You "don't think" Joe will be an NBA player. Most don't make it, particularly with his skill set (trying to avoid racial steriotyping we all know is going on). Neither does a Jeremy Lin. Point is we really just guess and deal with probabilities and gut. Point is, we have less useful information based upon the league he plays in. Point is he could do it. Kaleb Joseph couldn't, how excited were we for him to arrive. We were very wrong, despite all the measurables and tape. I get this is a message board and we offer opinions. Most of those opinions are shots in the dark. My gut tells me this kid is a fighter who will do what it takes to succeed. I could be wrong. Taxes and death are certain so I had a little fun and argued all sides of the issue against myself. That doesn't mean I adopt all those positions. Get it? Dude.
