How would I know? I do know that none of them were coaches at the time those players played. Red was a teammate of David Johnson's, so perhaps he had some effect.

Red had no effect on Dave Johnson's shot. My point is, citing former Syracuse players who's shots improved under different coaching is irrelevent.

I live in Chittenango and went to a bunch of his games last year. He was very impressive, very slick, broke down 2 defenders at will whenever he wanted but by no means a ball hog, willing passer and made a point to set up teammates for good shots even if he could have taken it to the hoop för a layup. Smooth shooter, just a natural.
I went to a few of JJs games as well. He was impressive but @ Bishop Grimes he was essentially shut down by a 5'7 guy that went tö Suny Albany for soccer.
Ryan can play at SU. I highly doubt he comes in as a freshman and plays meaningful minutes but who knows?
He is a take and hope for the best. If he was 6'3 he would be top 50 easy.
I mean we have taken so many project centers that never pan out, this kid is a player and definitely worthy of a scholarship from SU.
He was all set to go to Lemoyne where he would have started...at least play good minutes. But he bet on himself and is labeled a rising player with high major offers coming.
#140ish from Chitt is a major accomplishment.
I kinda hope he goes to Siena and kills it and then...

Gillon “only” splashed 54 3’s, but at just shy of 42%.

Wes hit 51, at a 41.5% clip, while being the ultimate Do It All forward for us.

No disrespect to either Money Monroe or Matt Roe, but -
* The 3pt shot was much shorter then.
* And it was new, and an anomaly, so teams didn’t have any strategy to defend specifically against it, being much more focused on guarding the rim.

When White went up for a 3, alot of the time with 2-3 hands in the face I thought it was going in...moreso than any other 3pt shooter în Syracuse history.
Given the record breaking makes, that was decent judgement.
I can still envision him rising up launching 3s when he appeared smothered by the D. Swish.
He just didnt have much else to his game.

Doty can’t play at SU either. They’re both good players but not ACC players unless you’re happy with SU’s current state of affairs.

A freshman that averages 9 points on 49/36/76 splits for a MAAC team could very well be a good player for us here someday.

He is averaging about 15 ppg and 8.5 rebounds over his last 8 games. His role continues to grow and his production is there. And he also shot 50% or better in 7 of those 8 games (40% one game), and 50% or better from 3 as well. The kid can play. We missed on not even considering him.

By all accounts he's a relentless defender who is all over the place. He's averaging over 1.5 steals over his last 8 games as well. He's also only turned it over 11 times in those 8 games and is playing about 39 in a game.

I hope the kid gets better and better and maybe even comes here, but we’ve had enough of the local charity cases where they are clearly not good enough for this level lately. Yes, Carlos was a great defender in the CAA. Doty is 3 or 4" taller than him, and only in his freshman year. I also certainly agree the MAAC is not the ACC.

I think Doty is unquestionably a better overall player than Carlos, who will continue to improve. I dont expect him to be a star in the ACC (should he ever come here), but I do think he would be a solid player and offer more than a lot of the guys on our current roster a year or 2 from now.
