Challenge: state a positive from SU in NYC this week

My misery wasn't over. I tuned into the stream of the game between my other alma mater, Cicero-North Syracuse vs. the "Little Irish" of Rochester Aquinas in the state AA semi-finals. The Northstars were up 7-0 when i tuned in. They are now down 7-28 in the third period. On top of that, the announcers are calling my school "Cicero North".

The Northstars rallied to within 21-28 and on a fourth down play in the final minute, Aquinas tipped a long pass. A CNS receiver had just broken free from the defenders and had nothing between him and the goal line. But he was already falling down and couldn't make the catch. Such is life.

just got home from the fball game. sat in the family section and met many family members of current team. wonder people.

also, my 8yo pretty much picked up a cute 22yo recent SU graduate. kid's got more game than we did today.

Tell your kid that BC still doesn’t have a team

Jalen Carey is good.

We played, although badly, in the most important game in college football this weekend.

I rarely reply to my own posts unless it’s after 2 am and there’s some bourbon handy.

But I’d be remiss not to add that hanging out with Troop was a clear positive, as ever.

I’m still alive, and there might be a pretty cool reason to pick up a copy of the post standard this week. keep ya posted.

I’m sitting in my room, just crushed. Literally not even in the mood to drink.
Glad you and Chris finally hooked up.

Phones broken. Can't play hockey tonight when I get home because I have too bad blisters from shlepping around in cowboy boots (Im cheap and wear these to events to sneak in booze.) The girl I like in NYC told me she wants to rip my dick off I guess thats a positive but again my phone was broken so I couldn't text her back to meet up last night after the game. I can't imagine how much this hotel cost. Ugggggggggggg.

I want the Pinstripe Bowl honestly so I can come back here and do that again with us playing better.

My son and I were in a stall at MSG going to the bathroom before the UConn game. I had my back to him for a second and was cleaning off the seat, I turn around, and he's crouching on the ground peaking under the stall next to us saying hi to the person in there. <I suddenly break out in a cold sweat> The guy goes "Go Orange, buddy!"

Something about the leaf not falling too far from the :)

Tommy DeVito has now tasted the big stage against the most high profile college football program next to bama.

He lost, it was a poor showing.

However, he’s now got this out of the way and under his belt.

This is an invaluable learning experience. Maybe he’ll be able to ride the crowd and enjoy himself when he’s winning vs Clemson infront of 50,000 at the dome next year to get us into the top 5.

This kid is going to be a good one, and he’s got a good head on his shoulders. This is my one positive that shoots to mind.

You keep saying we’re not the #12 team, so where would you put us?

I think we’re absolutely a top 15ish caliber team and hopefully prove it next week and in our bowl game.

You think UCF/UF/PSU/ISU/Texas etc are all better than us? ...because those are all the teams ranked around us going into this week.

Yes, all those teams would beat us. Texas and UCF might embarrass us.

Pre-game exposure from ND game is always a good thing, win or lose. And both teams learned a lot about themselves.

That’s all I’ve got.

After the game I told a Notre Dame fan that our missed FG was a microcosm of the game. He said that missing a field goal wasn’t a little mistake and shook his head at me.

At least we’re not that dumb...

The 8-2 SU football team had an opportunity to play an undefeated ND on national TV in mid Novemeber.

We've come a long, long way.

ND scheduled us as a patsy for an "Irish in NYC" marketing wankfest on national TV.

They wanted a gimmee game where they could blow the doors off a 3rd tier team. We played that role well enough.

Sadly, getting our doors blown off like that does erase some of the progress we looked to be making this year.

The real question is can this team bounce back and finish the season on a high note??... or is this the confidence killer that will see this season finish in a whimper with losses to BC and whatever mid-tier bowl team we play?
