Chaminade Post-Ohana Thoughts

Wide open shots don't change.
Free throws don't change.
4 feet from basket over a guy 6" shorter don't change.
Nor does setting up an offense with no one anywhere near the basket on 3-point shots.
Less pressure, both mentally and physically. Wide open shots against Tennessee and Gonzaga were still rushed. The game wasn’t on the line when shooting free throws against Chaminade. The Chaminade players have less talent and athleticism.

The optimistic view is after playing two top teams everyone else will seem easy, and the Chaminade game was well-placed to get the flow going. Also lots of tape to correct things. This stretch of the season is critical and we’ll soon see how these guys will respond. Could go either way.

I don't think that any games are "easy", and I sure hope the players don't feel that way.

I think the optimistic take is that we played 2 very good teams, and we hung close, but made too many mistakes and too many bad decisions to win those games.

Good teams punish mistakes. But even mediocre teams can punish mistakes, too - that's why you can't say, "everyone else will seem easy after this".

Because it's not about the other team nearly as much as it is about you, doing your various jobs the best you can. Focus on trying to cut down on mistakes (but recognize that some are inevitable if you take chances ...).

Try to be humble enough as a teammate to give up your shot if someone has a shot that's better.

That's how you approach this, in my opinion.
