As long as we push the tempo defenses will be heavily focused on defending the drive and sagging back to protect the paint. Both the spot up and trailer 3 will be there. This works well for both Bell and Benny along with JT. Keeps part of their offensive game simple to setting their feet and launching or ball fake and attack the closeout.

Qadir is solid defensively but as a PG he is turnover prone and not very protective of the ball. His vision is good so in time and with patience his time will come. He should get much more minutes his junior year and should be a starter as a senior.

Let's get this straight: Copeland is a terrific asset to the SU program.

Sure, he has room to grow as a player (he just finished his freshman year!). But QC has ample talent/skills, which are to a degree rare in a player with his size/measurables (his potential is quite high). He also provides great roster and lineup flexibility for Red. But most of all, he is a legit energy PROVIDER within the program (note that I am not saying as a sparkplug off the bench, I am talking day-in, day-out character). Coaches want that attribute, ... seek it. They do not run it off.

I don't know about Pace, but Copeland, to me anyway, looks like he has that Wes Johnson easy athleticism. He just needs to refine how to use it where Wes knew that intuitively.

Versatile players who are good at a lot of things, on both ends of the court…we’ve really been lacking guys like that, the last 6-7 years. So I am highly intrigued by Westry.

Wes was named to the B12 rookie team, he had those moves when he got to college. He had to sit a year before playing at SU. With the portal today, he would have been in the NBA after his soph season.
