Charles Watkins: New WR QC Asst

I'm having a problem, Mr. B.
The incoming coach is Charles Watkins...got a degree from Duke.

Tyree Watkins was dismissed(seemingly rightly so) from Duke.
Are they brothers?
I was wondering the same thing. So weird

I certainly don't love the history but whether syracuse hired him or any other team across the country did, you hope he's a changed man. Second chances are hard and you hope any person learns and grows from past mistakes, regardless if it helps the team you root for or not

Ideally, Christianity is all about forgiveness. Unfortunately, many self-professed Christians forget that part. As my father always taught us, your actions speak louder than your words.
I'm not a religious person at all but it's pretty clear Coach Fran is incredibly religious so it's not entirely a surprise he is handing out second chances to people.

How he monitors/how they act is something to watch.

This article answers a lot of questions.
The fact that it was resolved with no record indicates to me that this wasn’t as egregious as reported and that he was an otherwise good kid. If it was really bad, the DA can go forward even if the accuser wanted it dropped.

"The Durham district attorney agreed to defer prosecution of Watkins for assault on a female—a class A1 misdemeanor in the state of North Carolina. Watkins agreed to 75 hours of community service and six months probation. The state dismissed the case Oct. 31, 2012 and it is set to be expunged from Watkins’ record in early 2013."

They deferred prosecution, he still had 75 hours of community service and six months probation.

The lengths some of you will go to defend questionable hires within this football program...

So we are going to keep someone from improving themselves for something that happened 13 years ago? Has he repeated the offense? Has he been in trouble since this incident? According to your comments, he committed a serious offense that should limit any prospects he has for improving.

DAs do that when cases are weak. You probably still think the Duke lacrosse players raped the stripper, because she said so. I spent 25 years dealing with he said, she said and understanding that allegations do not necessarily equal truth.
I would hate to be one of your kids who did something wrong: you seem to not be able to understand or appreciate that people can learn and grow. Part of the goals of the criminal justice system is rehabilitation. If we don’t believe in that, why not just lock every transgressor up for life.
