Team with no history that has made a remarkable turn around. I'll be watching them torch Iowa State at 6:00 pm central. Who is with me?

I'm with you. Up until last week, their average possession was 1:09. The are fun to watch when the are rolling.

How you feeling about the game GoCuse? Do you think the line is a bit much?
Its aggressive. But State playes to the level of their opponent a lot. So I think they can make it a game for a quarter or 2...but will lose by 3 scores.

They had very close losses and should have beaten Texas.

You watch Baylor, Tex AM, Oregon and you wonder if they are playing the same sport as SU

Baylor shows how to run an offense. 37-0 at the half. I guess their D must be pretty good too.

71-7 with over 700 yards of offense. Incredible. Let's take notes on this team please.

Nah, that would make to much sense for the coach's on our team. Look at what happened when they didn't look at tape on how BYU took care of GTech last week.

Location. Baylor which is in Texas has more capable players in their backyard than SU does. Even if they are getting the Tex, Tex AM, and TCU rejects...those guy are still better than anyone we are getting

maybe but we showed in the 90s once you establish yourself you can recruit some good talent at Syracuse

This ain't the 90's anymore. The landscape of college football has changed drastically. Those days are long gone and those times are over with

The difference is ... they recruit established players, we have to recruit development kids (with very few exceptions). We almost never sign 5 star recruits, and 4 stars are increasingly rare ... maybe 1 or 2 in a class. That means we have to have to scheme for developing talent, and it's becoming painfully obvious that this staff isn't going to get that done anytime soon. Their recruiting doesn't seem any worse than DM, and there were growing pains when Marone first came in. But right now the product on the field more closely resembles GRob than anything Marone fielded.

Cinncy with kelley UCF with Oleary , Stanford, Oregon ( they were nothing a while back ) you just have to get the right staff in place, Syracuse wont be Alabama and win three in a row but we certainly can become a top 25 type program, I 100 % believe that.

Cincy is in Ohio
UCF is in Florida

Both are states stockpiled with talent, so much talent and not enough schools for all the kids in state. They have it easier recruiting and still those schools aren't Top 25 program year in and year out, not even close. They have open arms to the leftovers inside their state. And Oregon is a school that is backed with billions of dollars and has state of the art everything that Syracuse can't compare itself too. Syracuse is in a state that has horrible high school football and can't compete financially with a school like Oregon. This isn't the 80's and 90's anymore, college football has changed. Unless you are willing to accept that Syracuse has to get a "Marrone" type who has a little success and and he will be gone within 4-5 years on to a better and bigger job, and that cycle will never end and every "next hire" must be a home run and you can't strike out or hit a single...the days of Syracuse being a nationally ranked team year in and year out are done and over with! It just is! The landscape of college football has changed and Syracuse has been left behind.

Syracuse is closer to Wake Forest, Duke, BC and those types of schools football wise than it is to Missouri, Kansas St, and Iowa and schools who are borderline Top 25 every year. It is what is is

Cinncy is in the shadow of all the big 10 schools and ND, UCF is about 6th on the list for perspective Florida kids, hell i would guess SU higher ranked Forida kids then UCF Just wondering, if you think its impossible for SU to become a good program again why do you follow, I am confident it can be done, but its definitely not easy. We were nobody when Mac brought us out of oblivion and believe me, people said it couldnt be done back then.

SU can be good again. What is your definition of good? I think they can get 6-7 wins a year, go to a bowl. That's it. I think that is the ceiling And every now and then if the stars are aligned right maybe be ranked and have a nice 8-9 win year (but NOT do that consistently).

Once again with the Coach Mac comparison,...different time. Different era! There used to be a time when Army and Navy were national powers. Clearly those days are over with. You are comparing eras and that's not realistic

I watch Baylor recruiting very closely. The thing about Baylor is that the coaches have a great eye for talent. They have many camps throughout summer and the majority of their offers are made at camp, with a first hand view of recruits. They don't cut corners by looking at recruiting sights or chase the big names that the other schools do. They identify a winner, they get on him early, offer him early, and stay on his @ss until he gives a pledge. For example, Terrance Williams was a little known 2 star WR who is now starting for the Cowboys. Kendall Wright was a 3 star and starts for Tennessee. Josh Gordon was a 3 star and plays for the Bucs. They will have one, maybe two more leave for the NFL this year. And this is just WR's I'm talking about...
