The only time we had decent special teams at SU was when Chris Rippon coached the unit. How about freeing up some money in the Athletic Department budget and hire him. Chris loves the Syracuse area and would probably jump at the chance to leave Columbia University for SU.

Bio: Rippin served as special teams coordinator at Rutgers in 2008 and helped the Scarlet Knights to a win in the PapaJohns.com Bowl. He has 16 years of NCAA FBS coaching experience that includes five years as defensive coordinator at Syracuse University and a total of nine years as a special teams coordinator with stops at Syracuse, Ole Miss and Rutgers.

Specials were fine last 2 years
Don't necessarily share that view as I count FG as ST. We have been poor on returns as well. The only thing we have done well has been coverage which used to be a big problem.

Kicking and returning isn't coaching however.

Chris was a good neighbor and I'm sure he wouldn't make special teams worse.

Invite him back.
