Clawson Signs Long Term Deal With WF

Comparing Clawson to Dino is laughable….

We’ve had one….one winning season in 6 under Babers….and not even close to .500 in most season
Define “not even close.” Correct me if I am wrong, but in a standard 12 game college regular season, you can’t get any closer than 5-7…

4-8
4-8
10-3
5-7
1-10

So if we are going to take the average in my opinion you drop the highest and the lowest…

So that gets us at…
4-8
4-8
5-7

And then of course this season…

Clawsons records….

3-9
3-9
7-6
8-5
7-6
8-5
4-5

Same thing applies…so you drop a 3-9 and an 8-5….

That puts Clawson at 29-31….

Dino Babers at… 13-23

So not even close…

If you don’t drop the the highest and lowest season…

Clawson is 49-46
Babers is 29-42

Marrone went 8-5 twice and I don’t recall anyone calling them “essentially .500 regular seasons”.

I’m all for patience, but Clawson had a much longer run of sustained good performance, and did it earlier in his tenure, than our current HC (who has yet to do it, in year 6).
Sorry, I don’t mean to prolong the conversation.

Clawson went 6-6 in 2016 and in 2018 in the regular season.

He went 7-5 in 2017.

He is a fine football coach, but let’s not get carried away.

His record at Wake is basically a respectable .500.

I wasn’t debating Clawson’s coaching ability. I just got fixated on your use of “patience”.

In my opinion there wasn’t really a need to be patient with Clawson. He had the program making bowl games consistently by year three. He was well on the path to being a long-timer at Wake should he have chosen that route, and this breakthrough season cemented that.

I certainly hope we win today and there’s some reward for our patience with Dino.

I meant literally that 5-7 is the closest you can get to .500 in a year, meaning he has come as close as you can to obtaining that goal without doing so.
