If only Keith Smart didn't hit a tough corner jumper Syracuse would have won in 1987, if only AO didn't injury his quad in 2010 the Orangeman are tougher in 2010. What a douche thing to say. They feel they should have won. Does JB get to say in 2008 if Paul Harris and Donte Green don't brainfart against Pitt they win that game and they are still bitter after the fact. Pitt needs to man up and win in the postseason and stop bitching about their regular season crap. Pitt still goes to ND which is a tough building and I would expect Florida State and Duke to be up when they go to Pitt to play. I shouldn't hate Pitt because they never win when the lights are on, but this undeserved elitist mindset is annoying.

I believe that's the case. Based on this article from last year if two teams are tied and split their head-to-head second tiebreaker is results against the top seed. I assume this would progress until an advantage is found.

Some teams are more focused on league titles as the end all be all, and relatively speaking, other teams are slightly more focused on a bigger prize...The ACC title is a VERY big title but it is not the end all be all
 
I don't even agree that they "should" have won. Could? Absolutely. But just cause they had a 3 point lead with 3 minutes left doesn't mean you choked away a game you should have won. Pitt was losing most of the game, were down 10 and in danger of getting blown out until Patterson hit 3 straight 3's from just inside half court. And hit another crazy long 3 a few minutes later. Those 4 3's were the only reason we didn't coast to a win.
 
Didn't they just lose to Cuse? Who cares what those whining Pitt losers and their delusional fans think. Their glorious track record speaks for itself.

It is both asinine and completely unsubstantiated for anyone to claim that they "should" have won.

And why should they not feel they are the best? They have every opportunity in the world to win the acc. I like our chances . They will be favored at pitt, they like their chances, have at it

just to be clear, there is no ACC regular season title to be handed out.....the ACC season champ must win the tournamnet
 
If Pitt lead the entire game, and then in the final minutes blew the game they could have felt they should have won. However, Syracuse was in the lead 18 of the 20 minutes in the 2nd half and 33 minutes in the entire game. Pitt was competitive the entire game, but our defense neutralized them and we shot 51% for the game. If we rebound at a bad level and not an atrocious one we win by double digits. For Cook to write the Pitt coaches/players felt they should have won is asinine. That means Georgia Tech should say they felt they should have beat Pitt last week in Atlanta when 2 starters were out of that game and it went to the very end or NC State felt they should have beat Pitt because they started their game leading 18-2 before Pitt came back in the 2nd half. Its a douche comment and mindset by Jaime Dixon. However, we don't need to worry Jaime Dixon will be in the CBS/Turner studio for our 2nd round game like last year when we played Cal and tell the country how to play against our zone.

It's still an accomplishment though and is rewarded by the committee. (Also I saw at the last Duke game they were listing their 19 acc regular season titles)

Pitt might have an advantage if the tiebreaker is how you do against the third place team, since we will probably be playign them on the road and Pitt might have them at home.

Pitt can feel they "should" have won that game (and i bet if the shoe was on the other foot we'd be saying we should have beat them) but they were leading for what, 2 min of that game?
 
they certainly have a lot in their favor when projecting the final ACC standings. It is conceivable that they could finish 17-1 and Syracuse could finish with 2 or 3 losses.

But the fact is that, as of today, Syracuse is the only team that controls its own destiny. Everyone else is chasing and hoping for help. The Orange don't have to depend on anyone but themselves.

I live in Pittsburgh and get to see/hear all of this nonsense first hand. Most people here don't care much about Pitt, as they are a distant 4th to the Steelers, Pens, Pirates and maybe even sometimes Penn State. However, when they are discussed on local radio and/or other venues they are discussed like they are a national power. Because of that, and the fact that they have had our number recently I have really grown to hate them, and I enjoy their annual choke in the NCAA tournament. I know Syracuse (like most program) has years where it gets upset and/or underachieves in March (probability suggests this will be the case). However, with Pitt it has happened far too much to be a simple coincidence. Did you know Pitt has never beaten a higher seeded team in the NCAAs since 2000 (I don't know about before that)?

As much as it pains me to say it though, this might be their best team in awhile. They don't play nearly as dirty as past Pitt teams, and they pass and rebound as well as any team I have seen. I would be surprised if they don't make it to the 2nd weekend this year (which they haven't done since 2008-2009).

I agree, i think they are for real, that boxscore against a good clemson team was unreal, i watched the game too, it was like varsity against jv. Makes our win against them look real good. If we beat them at pitt will hands down be our biggest win heading into postseason.

I actually agree with this. They definitely pass as well as if not better than every other team in the nation. And they have all the pieces to go far in the tourney. Like always, it will depend upon match-ups.

They were behind for 75% of the game. Unbelievable. About as delirious as saying Pitt was the best team by a large margin (1 game).

I think they should have lost. Just as valid a criteria.

Bunch of whiner sore losers.

Having said that, they are a good team. They will likely give us trouble later in the season. But right now, they're the losers.

4 deep 3s from patterson let them try to then out fight their way to a win. They were in trouble as their game plan failed and ended up with that as a final heave. It actually was reminiscent of their tourney losses where they fell behind came back and just could not close out. It gives some the illusion they should have won the game but the reality is that once their hot streak settled to the norm they once again could not execute their game plan and ennis took over. Pitt wont admit it but they are more angry thinking they had stole one more than legitimately won it. It would have been kind of like what mcw did to the ville last year and we would have had the true claim to should have won the game clamor.
