Clemson Players in Locker Room

Who knew dabo land featured a locker boxing club too! Wow.

This must have been before the game, right? Because if they are acting that way after losing to us then that team is completely unfocused.

Odd that I can't find another story about this yet.

Dabo got's some splaining to do. This is not good at all as if someone gets seriously hurt and Dabo supplied these gloves heads will be rolling. That one kid took a nice shot to the ear area which can knock you out cold and give you one hell of a concussion.

I don't have a problem with it if they were both boxing by choice. They had gloves on. People are acting like it was a duel. We did stuff like this in the fraternity. Maybe or skulls were thicker and our brains smaller, I don't know.

Disagree. These guys are there to play football and have a responsibility to their team. You get hurt playing football, it is what it is. Part of the game. You get hurt doing something else dangerous in the middle of the season? Dumb move.

Would it be better if they were wrestling? Racing bicycles, etc? Are they supposed to go from football practice to weight room to class and then hibernate in their apartment?

I had an ROTC scholarship in college. Was I supposed to not do anything stupid-fun (definition is something that is really stupid/dangerous, but fun) because I had an obligation to the DOD? I don't recall the Army putting many prohibitions on us, just no drugs or man on man behavior, if you know what I mean. Btw, we occasionally played with guns and explosives in ROTC and sometimes people got maimed (I saw multiple people get sent home early from Ft. Bragg from training mishaps).

I'm not saying the coaches should allow it, but as an outsider, I don't have a problem with it. Maybe I'm abnormal nowadays, but I think it's fine for men to do manly things, even if it hurts. I'm almost 50 and I still do stupid-fun things on occasion even if there is pain involved. Life is short and you can die doing very mundane things.

There’s a LARGE gap between hibernating in their dorms and punching each other in the face.

There’s plenty of activities where there’s a chance you can get hurt. In boxing the intent is to hurt the other person. Pretty dumb thing for them to do in the middle of the season, IMO.

This is obviously not a fight. A fight happens spontaneously...and without boxing gloves. Perhaps they decided to settle a beef, or one guy called out another guy. But the fact that they took the time to put gloves on, tells me there is nothing here to be overly concerned about. My highschool football team had worse fights than that...without gloves.
We didn't win much.

Except they were throwing real haymakers with the intent to knock the other one out.

We lost a top notch lineman a few decades back for wrestling in the locker room to a knee injury.

Agree. I'm not the no fun police but I don't think it's that hard to see that was crossing the line to stupidity with the way they were going at it. Not that hard to get a concussion doing that.

I can't believe people are laughing this off.

College football players having a planned fight in a locker room, dressed in team gear, while teammates watch and record would likely be viewed as a "school sanctioned activity" for legal purposes. Just how much liability coverage does Clemson have? Look at all the sharp edges on the couches they are falling into. There is a very real possibility of serious injury, and the college would be open to an enormous lawsuit if someone got hurt. The school will fire someone (likely a trainer) just to announce their position that this is unacceptable. The Clemson BOT should be furious for the risk this is taking.
