Marrone now looks really foolish out there. Doug looks like an oger a buffon and completely unprofessional and I think he will realize that after Saturday. I think you will see him tone it down for the remain 3 games. Throwing his jacket, visor, dropping bombs, he looks unprofessional and is not representing the University in a the correct light and I think somebody at the University will tell him as much. I like Doug a lot but this stuff won't continue as long as he is employed at Syracuse. One thing to get the players fired up, another to be throwing tantrums, cursing out refs and throwing things

It changes nothing and I think you will see a return to a more stoic approach

100% disagree, Doug Marrone isn't doing anything that coaches don't do.He is working the officials for the next call and is showing his team he is all-in. I give Marrone a ton of credit for doing this as he is showing the fanbase and players how much the game matters to him. There are a lot of faults of Doug Marrone, but he isn't doing anything embarrassing out there.

I hate to disagree but anything short of tossing the replay official out of the booth face first would simply be appropriate.

I don't see Marrone doing anything in the sidelines that is an embarrassment to SU.

How long has JB been at SU? (and I don't think he's an embarrassment either)

It will change... Believe me. You cant be on TV every week dropping bomb after Bomb, just cant

Doubtful SU tells him to dial it back.

Brian Kelly says hello.

He has to be who he is but at the same time CAN NOT lose the focus of what is going on.

Let's just say there are issues and frustration with the stripes this year.

I'm amazed on how well he has gone out of his way to say the right things about the refs...in public anyways.

Ridiculous. He's a football coach. They curse. If higher ups are spending time talking to our coach about some salty language during one of the most poorly officiated games we have ever seen, then I give up. Wont happen

i missed the game, just watching highlights now. the reaction to the blocked kick looked strange to me. the funny thing is that's exactly what I would've done had i seen them even line up for that attempt.

Can we stop the madness with Marrone's demeanor. He is too Stoic. Now he is too animated. now he just looks like a buffoon. If we won that game you would be praising his fire.
Good post...for many years I believe that 'Cuse coaches whether football or bball have acted as if they were at a prom or black tie dinner. Have some of you watched Sabin or Cal, or Pitino...c'mon...a little spirit is good...sitting on your hands always isnt going to send any kind of signal to your players...you got to be enthusiastic!...but let's have balance and Coach M has been much better balancing the calmness with being a bit more aggressive...good for him!

I actually heard the opposite, alumni and those critical of the program like seeing the fire from Marrone on the sideline, I doubt Gross is going to have a conversation about dialing it back.

Apparently, he can't do anything right. If he shows emotion, it's not professional. If he doesn't show emotion, then that means he doesn't care. Some will complain if they see Marrone breathing, eating, drinking, etc ie. if he's alive.

I applaud Marrone for stopping at simply dropping the bomb and not choking out the officials and leaving in handcuffs. Many of us fans wouldn't be able to show the same restraint.

I loved him actually showing the sideline ref how the ball hit the goaline and should've came out for a touchback. I think his reaction to the missed FG, pure disgust, is exactly what every Cuse supporter was feeling. Disgust with the miss, and disgust with himself for playing "smart" to get within 1 score despite wanting to go for it. I think we'll be going for it on 4th and short alot more moving foreward and trying alot fewer FG's.

Well, at 4-5, I sure hope so.

Doug's actions are fine. Football is an emotional game. I like to know our football coach has passion.

And if the coach doesn't blow up, the players are more likely too. As a player, you need to know the coach is fighting for you.

No problem with the emotion. Could do without the stream of -bombs though. From a guy who played for a coach who dropped so may -bombs during games that we had to move to the visitor sideline during home games so the college president and parents would not hear him so much I can tell you it gets a little tiring. Also it loses its effectiveness. There is being mad, then being really mad. -bombs, IMO, fall under the latter category. And Brian Kelly is a douche.

Is he blaming the refs for making bad false start calls and saying FGs are no good when he thinks they are good, or giving us bad spots on sideways punts? Because those were the situations Saturday that led to his biggest tirades. OL and ST get his wrath more than the zebras, probably because he's most closely connected with those units.

I don't mind the tirades, I kind of like the emotion. But the refs are a small part of what has become the new sideline Coach. With the refs, I think he's more looked like the pleading (some may call it whiny) JB.

Nebraska told Pellini to pipe down a few years ago, but I don't think Marrone's demeanor approaches that level.

If he is going to go on tilt, however, it would be nice if he knew the rules. Otherwise he looks much much worse and the threshold for embarrassment narrows.
