I can tolerate lyke if we get Hodgson. Thinking Lyke will do something so stupid or scandalous that she won’t last long enough to matter.

You are significantly underestimating the significance of the next 4 years relative to conference realignment and revenue. SU is already lagging. They cannot afford to miss on the Chancellor, AD, and, to a lesser but still important degree, the HC. Despite the mess, power struggles, and political infighting, there is opportunity here. But the window is closing quickly.

The one thing I will say, as someone noted probably 10 pages ago now, it has shown me a lot how much our fanbase cares about getting Syracuse Basketball back to where it belongs! Just if the decision makers could realize this, put there differences aside, and come together to put SYRACUSE BASKETBALL where it belongs!

Again, not focusing on any question at all. Simply making the point that there is no empirical evidence that Hodgson would be the can’t miss, sure fire thing some are portraying him to be. If he gets the gig I certainly hope he is, but until then I am willing to accept the possibility that there may be other qualified candidates.

So are most, just based on his body of work. Hop isn't one of them. There's been a bunch mentioned on our board who have had very good HC success-Schertz, Olen, Takayo Siddle, even Luke Murray is more qualified.

So a Lyke/Hop combo plate will not only put a nail in the coffin for the hoops team but also the football program. Woohoo!

How about we have Melo pick the AD and Lally the HC for the compromise? Please?

The only thought that gives me solace in moments like this is - as bad as it may sound - Kelvin Sampson.
Not that he would ever coach here, but it illustrates that redemption can be a powerful force.

So the best I can discern is that we have a real mess on our hands.

Behind the scenes, there are power struggles taking place for all three positions currently open. Chancellor, AD and MBB.

There seem to be competing factions at each position, and there seems to be a clear direction for what I would say is “Team Lally”…which appears to be involved in all three.

Their slate of candidates appear to be:
Chancellor Haynie
AD Lyke
Coach Hodgson
(The last two for sure, not sure about Haynie)

They are opposed on Lyke by some very influential FB supporters.

And they are opposed on Hodgson by Team Melo.(Hop)
Melo will not be outspent here.

I don’t know how this is all going to fall out, but I think Haynie is going to be a winner here.

The AD situation is too close to call.

As is the MBB coach.

The overarching picture here is the Lally’s attempt to consolidate control. I don’t think they’re going to stop until the school is renamed Lally University @ Syracuse.

Let’s just say their name above Melo’s on the basketball facility has been “duly noted”.

I think a Hop - Lyke result would be somewhat of a potential compromise.

As Dash has noted, I don’t see anyway the Lally’s support Hop, nor Melo supports Hodgson.

Who are the other AD contenders? Any insight?

The funny thing as they compromise, it could be the worst pairing imaginable for Syracuse University Lyke/Hopkins oh man that is so bad and out of left field.
