You got a few years on me. I played from 85 to 88. Looking back I thought Doc was old when he retired when in reality he was 57 or so. I'm older than that now. Crazy how we look at things when we are younger. When he retired he gave away a lot of old stuff (Jerseys) that he had in the storage room in back of his office. I'll run the campus when I'm in Oswego a few times a month. I can assure you that very little has changed at Laker since the day you left.

Unfortunately for Red, I don't think he was HC material in any era. He just happened to be even less equipped now due to his inability to adjust and lack of desire to make changes or necessary upgrades.

Entire season such a train wreck and the shame of it all is that we had such high hopes.

I wanted him to come here based on the Melo connection, but after seeing him play this season I won't be upset if he goes somewhere else. I do think he has the ability to end up as a pretty good player. I am just not sure how quick I think that happens.

Losing Melo's kid should be more painful, but we have lost Syracuse basketball. Reviving that will always come first.

I think he's 2 years away from being a pretty good player. Beyond the decision making, he's just not as athletic or have the fast twitch muscles/reactions the really good players have. There's a fluidness missing at this point, that he may never get. He forces things and it's not purely because he's "forcing" things to happen, he doesn't have the athleticism to make things happen that he wants to have happen. IMO.

In all fairness to Kiyan and all our freshmen, they got stuck with a horrifically bad coach.
Freshman year you really need direction, someone to lead and inspire.
Someone who can help you improve.

They got none of that.

This is a less-pointed version of that article that was posted yesterday.

But it highlights the disconnect about what Red's capabilities were when he got hired, and how it was completely misaligned with what a flagging program needed to right the ship in 2023.

Really bad move by the University, and it has caused harm to the men's basketball program.

I really can’t see him going anywhere else.his father is the face of the program. If Su can’t hold onto him we are going in a very bad direction.
