Well, it’s us or Providence. Pitt’s AD today confirmed that Capel will return.

From the sounds of it --- It isnt us versus Providence for BH it sounds like it is us versus us

There’s one common name in all our recent issues involving donors - the Lally’s. The same ones that want their names in 1000 pt font and on every building. Flows from there.

I’m no expert either but the optics I see are a Bunch of 60, 70, 80 year old guys losing some of their pull to 30, 40 year olds.

Never gonna knock anyone that’s given that much money and bleeds orange but you can see the age of all the major players literally dropping 20-30 years. That’z going to cause shockwaves in itself.

I would assume if SU does have serious interest in hiring GMAC, and the possibility if he is hired he brings AW with him, that would send the Lallys into serious heart attack mode.
So I could see them fighting tooth and nail to stop this potential hire.
They have always wanted BH, they have gone to many of his games.
After losing Lyke, and thank God they did, they probably stubbornly want their choice this time.
Just one of the reasons that I think hiring Gerry is just a pipe dream right now,

Based on their influence and financial support, I agree in that they most certainly are hoping for a "win" and that win to be hiring BH. Too big of a fish and too much risk for the university IMO.

Why would they part ways with Kline if Gmac was the hire? Who else would Gmac bring in as GM? His staff has nowhere close to the experience to be at the ACC level besides Lee. The parting ways with Kline makes me think this will be outside the boeheim tree.

Funny you say this but didn’t they say they hired and external consult on the AD. Did we ever hear about that

Well some key details are being left out and I don’t feel comfortable sharing on here. It goes beyond just the Lally’s. They’re only partially to blame.

It’s been said before but JW managed a lot of people. Haynies finding out quickly that maybe he should have appreciated what John did behind the scenes a lot more.

Guessing that Lally had his hooks in Lyke.

Other boosters had their hooks in Carparelli.

Since we went with a 3rd party candidate, none of the big money boosters have any influence anymore.

He (and the BoT) need to follow through on the "elite athletics" pledge and the role sports has in the university's business model. You cannot allow what is happening with the football NIL collective without predicting that was a possibility in the first place, and certainly not without having a backup plan to fund what the collective was providing.

That’s my understanding as well. Think they are quarterly. So presumably end of month or early next.
