Coach Search Options after Autry

Don't think this is a horribly trustworthy source, but maybe.

In today's college environment, money is important, especially for a private school like Syracuse. Look at UConn for example. They don't have to get donors or the university to completely fund facilities, as the state finances most of the cost of facilities, but Syracuse has to fund their facilities as a private school. That means donor and business donations can be focused on revenue sharing and NIL.

If we were to hire Kyle Smith, would Okorie come with him? Just a thought, wouldn’t be a bad place to start. I’m on record of wanting BH, but I’m just thinking of others.

I'm OK with hiring a coach other than Hodgson provided that it is on merit. What won't be cool is not hiring Hodgson because Gmac won a MAAC tourney game over a team that beat his a couple of weeks previously causing people lose their minds with nostalgia and taking a third bite at the Boeheim apple.
I hate to say this cause I love basketball but hoops is a postseason sport ..I watch all of it but reg season is less pressure especially in 1 bid leagues .. It’s all or nothing for a weekend.. Gerry’s team won a conf tourney and got an NCAA bid with the highest pressure and stakes, which BH has not done yet .. Yeah it’s the MAAC but Gerry has MAAC players .. it may be a lower level but he still made the NCAA tourney .. Thats what hoops is all about

Hodge is the one seed in a solid conference. Hasn’t even played yet. Also played in the conference championship game last year. Two schools taken to the title game (likely) in two years. He can coach AND recruit.

The more I read and learn about Kyle Smith, I’m a little intrigued….

University of Richmond head men's basketball coach Chris Mooney referred to Smith as "the smartest man in college basketball. I think he has the best feel and overview of basketball programs and coaching of anyone I've ever met.

His coaching style has been dubbed “Nerdball”, which is a system that utilizes analytics to track and make decisions on many aspects about the team.

While at Saint Mary's, he played a role in building the Gaels program into a perennial contender in the West Coast Conference. In his nine seasons with the Gaels, they made three NCAA Tournament (2005, 2008, 2010) appearances and earned one National Invitation Tournament (2009) bid. Saint Mary's averaged 23 wins over his last six seasons on the staff, including an 81–20 record over the last three seasons.

I’ll be honest, didn’t know much of Kyle Smith, but after reading a bunch about him, he seems like a very good coach!

From reading all this I think my biggest worry now is if the Lallys don't get their way, they take their ball and go home as well.
Ok I know nothing of any of this modern day Hatfield/McCoys deal. I way to old to have any insiders still living. I have met bees a few times but over30 years ago. It is my feeling calling out mega donors is a waste of time besides being counter productive. Doris Day sung it best “whatever will be, will be, the future is not ours to see”….

Caught up, everyone take a deep breath. We avoided Lyke, hopefully the Lallys get BH who most of us want, Lallys are happy, hopefully it doesn't affect football.

I just forgot another insider posted our top candidate hasn't been mentioned, so forget my advice, I'm lost as to what's going on.
Football has a major league problem right now. You need to catch up

Don’t forget he played at Hamilton College.

I’ve gotta ask who are you and where did you come from lol. You had like 5 posts until yesterday. Appreciate and respect the info and banter though.

This is why we hired BB and why we all want a national search. I think it was quite possible that other AD interviewees showed up with a favorite for hoops HC in mind and that’s what put us here today.

People may want BH or Gmac of others but after the debacle of the last many years anyone that said they want a backroom deal and no national search does not have the best interests of the fanbase in mind.
