I really hope the Syracuse President and AD aren't thinking this way because the current reality is coaching pay, NIL, and the ability to compete in the conference are what are driving coaching decisions now, not "national profile". The Syracuse decision makers need to provide a plan (financial, support, and commitment) to the coaching candidates to demonstrate Syracuse can and will compete with the top schools in the ACC as Syracuse has not been doing that. Remember, Syracuse has had one top 4 regular season finish in the ACC since joining and that was the first season, 13 seasons ago.
It's not the craziest possibility. He's moved around a lot and been successful everywhere. Apparently, he is a great recruiter. People like to dump on the Syracuse area but it's a lot better than Ames, Iowa.100%. When I posted earlier in this thread, in reply to someone's list of candidates where TJ would fall on their list, it was because I had heard that whisper. From the same person I heard about Blair from...
No offense but you didn’t read the first part of the comment.Nobody is leaving a good job to take a risk at SU (since we’re talking about longshots) and then not have any idea if there’s even any NIL. Nobody coaching at a high level is taking that risk.
He's a "rising star" for a reason. People aren't as successful as he has been at a young age by not being bold. At least that is what I am going to tell myself for now.I wouldn’t gather the new AD would sit on any high horse. The mention we are the best job available is good press talk but he seems to come from the understanding you have to walk the talk when it comes to this stuff.
this is how I feel about it also. Fran is the best thing that has happened to su in along time and if rumors are true and he's looking for the eject handle then the football team is on big trouble also. no way is tj coming here with all the drama and negativity surrounding su. jb is getting on every podcast and sports show talking about the lack of nil, blasting players, not once saying Autry was a disaster. this university can't get out of its own way and will not turn the corner to fielding winning football and basketball programs consistently. whoever takes this job will jump off asap. su is small time and the glory days are well behind us. lastly lally and go walk off a cliff for all I care. the university needs to find a more stable donor then this power hungry couple. im so fed up with all of itNobody is leaving a good job to take a risk at SU (since we’re talking about longshots) and then not have any idea if there’s even any NIL. Hopefully Hodgson passes the dreaded Eye Test this time around...I'm sure the eyes of Orange Nation will be glued to USF today at 3pm on ESPN2. It will be appointment viewing for Cuse fans.
big east are you serious? the world is passing you by if you think that way, new recruits do not know we played in the big east. I doubt they know we won a championship. the world we live in is who commands the most money, it's not Syracuse. isu has been winning, su hasn't made a tourney in 5 years and how many times have they gotten passed the first round of the acc. there are rumors flying all over the internet that providence is about to get a coach over su, if its true or not that's the perception out there.Syracuse University Basketball is still a big name nationally (thanks to the Big East & ESPN) even if some of us fans aren't sure if we are anymore. Certainly bigger than ISU.
Yeah can we play nice with the Lally’s until Hodgson is a done deal lol. Then hash out the issues. I mentioned on the football board that while this stuff is messy, the right people are getting the jobs that can turn this thing back into the favor of Syracuse winning a lot of games in both Football and Basketball. So I don’t have an X account anymore but a buddy of mine said the Lally foundation X account is blocking people who have responses related to all of this trying to get their attention and call out the lack of coordination…. It’s the fans fault so let’s shut them up from calling things out..
If he is the Blair compromise then let’s go crazy and get him. Try finding a flaw in his record lol.I'm definitely in the camp of Hodgson but man if TJ Otzelberger was interested in Cuse you do everything you can to get him. He's an A+ coach.

Exactly which is why half the reason half want GMACSU is the better job. Clearly.
But for Hodgson it may not be the better stepping stone job if he ultimately sees himself coaching in the SEC or at a top 5 blue blood.
If BH is successful at Syracuse and Syracuse continues to reinvest the earnings of that success into Syracuse Basketball, BH will be at Syracuse for a very long time.Exactly which is why half the reason half want GMAC
100% if you can actually get TJ you have to do it.I'm definitely in the camp of Hodgson but man if TJ Otzelberger was interested in Cuse you do everything you can to get him. He's an A+ coach.
We could not do better than Otzelberger that would be enormous100% if you can actually get TJ you have to do it.
