Coach Search Options after Autry

Earlier today, I went over to the football side to learn more about what is happening with NIL that has been alluded to here. Boy, that's a joy fest. Anyone in a good mood that wants to feel sad, it's a good read about our current state.

If you read it while listening to songs from The Cure, you'll be in great spirits for work on Monday......

If he actually sent in the checks he promised years ago and on IG.

Supposedly AW is funding NIL for GMAC this year to some degree... Not sure how much. (At least I thought I read that somewhere... Can anyone confirm?)

Lallys were the root cause of that downfall to begin with. Not sure how it changes with Haynie.
I'm not going to defend them for some of the ego and self inflicted problems they've created but I'll say this.

If you're the biggest donor and the last few years turn out differently and you win you're a hero but when your sports programs are a mess you're "the root cause of that downfall".

Yes but you need a team that functions as a unit, that pulls together, not a bunch of players looking for their me time.
Our SU team had talent but no unity, no team first vibe.
Horrible coach, obviously, but our intangibles were awful to say the least
No leadership either from the players or the coach.
In today’s world you need both talent and these intangibles to have a championship team.

Absolutely as the year went on we regressed sharply.
Again lack of leadership even soured the most team first players like Kyle at the end.
You could legitimately say we had a good team and good coach at Vegas but our coach frittered that away and had no idea how to keep the momentum going. No flipping clue!
How we went from - should have beat Houston - to whatever the ended up being was spectacularly bad.

I think our fanbase is so unused to the hiring of a new hoops coaches that we think so much of this process is some crazy string of events that only Syracuse is experiencing right now. It's really not.

If anyone has went into an interview desperate because you were out of work or about to be laid off it's a nightmare. You can expect to get lowballed and you're prob not going to be the top candidate. It's the opposite when you go into interview with multiple offers in your back pocket and ideally with momentum, that alone is going to get you to the top of the list and more money.

It's no coincidence that it was leaked that Gmac had interviewed at BC and had heard from GT, same as it's no coincidence that all the sudden BH is interested in PC and they have top tier level resources being thrown around.

It's also not a coincidence that this is all happening right now while both these coaches at the peak of their year. Every coach looks like a genius winning their Conference tourney, but that shine goes away real quick if they get ran off the court by 30 in the 1st round.

Martelli Jr. should get major consideration as well. About to be 27-7 and win the conference. Made the tournament at Bryant too. Actually his resume is better than Hodgson’s.
Great call, very underrated coach. Dude has two straight conference championships/auto bids at two different schools. Would be a very good candidate

The basketball program and alums are not the reason AW isn’t here anymore. Not sure if he’d be able to fund Gerry the same way if he was the coach here.

Article today, and seen this thrown out once before, but curious to the boards take. Dawn Staley. That would be a really out of the box hire. Could be interesting in being the first women's coach in men's basketball. Afterall how many men coach women's basketball. But would the money come in for that? Or is the world not ready for that? It would be a risk, and not sure a risk is the best idea right now. Syracuse is pretty non forward thinking, including our fans.
