From what I understand, Lally and Wildhack are very aligned on what needs to happen. Based on some statements that BB made, I think he will also agree with them.

They know who the best candidate out there is.

Not sure what the "lies" were, given the above. Time will tell whether any of the things I said won't come true -- namely:

• We have an agreement in principle in place with Hodgson -- which I'm not just saying, but many other prominent posters with proven track records are also indicating
• That the NIL resources were agreed to between Hodgson's camp and SU
• That it wasn't the obstacle some were claiming.

Are those lies, just because they don't jibe with your opinion?

So we are playing second fiddle (allegedly) to Providence for a coach who their #3 choice? This gets crazier every day.

Providence is starting to move in a different direction. Obviously Hodgson is their top choice but they have multiple candidates that they see as great options as well. It’s starting to trickle out just about everywhere that Providence is being used as leverage, which I and many others fell for. That’s why I’ve changed my stance from my original post that I caught a lot of heat for.

The number that coaches are looking for at SU is total roster $ in the $10-$12M range annually. Maybe a bit less, but not much. Figure 3-4M of it is Rev Share, the rest is NIL. It’s not a small lift. That would put top 5 ish in ACC. Barely upper half SEC/B1G.

It’s more than we spent this past year and about 3x what was spent 2 years ago.

If that’s all we’re willing and able to spend, we’re destined for just a hair above mediocrity. It’s clear the Syracuse athletic program isn’t suited for the NIL world.

Seems resonable. We were at 8-9 all in this year. So getting up to 10-12 seems like a reasonable ask. Not saying that isn't a lot of money, but the ask isn't unreasonable to me.

honestly, i'm sure a lot of universities outside the big ones are the same. you had colleges doing the same way forever and a lot were caught flat footed. You see headline after headline of colleges trying to fix NIL to get XYZ candidate.

How could we ever be caught flat footed ha. I will die on the hill that there are a dozen of these programs that have been paying players for 50 years and doing it well. Bending the rules would be an understatement.

It drives me crazy when people post here after they googled NIL spending and then comment that SMU or Miami or Alabama said they spent XX million on NIL this year. These teams have lied through their teeth for decades about what they spend on players, I'm sure this is the year they told the truth.

We have a lot of catching up to do but the best way to do that is to bring in new blood and obvi all be rowing in the same direction.

Providence is a better job than Syracuse on Pluto. Their previous coach abandoned them for Gtown.

Drugs are strong.

In this landscape it's closer than you'd think, more NIL to build a roster at pc. And Cooley wouldn't have left if he didn't have to because of his scandal. That being said, Cuse is still the better job, but not by much.

Universities are already fundraising for the school’s revenue portion. They need NIL on top of that. Ohio State is saying it’s not sustainable. It can’t keep up.

Oh, I disagree with you. P.C. as it has almost always been, is a bottom of the barrell job in the Big east. St Johns is a much stronger program with or without Rick. They can recruit in NYC. Nova, also has a better recruiting base. UConn is UConn. The only jobs that P.C. is clearly better than are Depaul and the Hall. They don't even have their own home court. You can say G-town is terrible but they still have the D.C area to recruit in. And P.C. has been to one sweet 16 since 1997? That is horrible.

When Rhode Island Rams fans are actively laughing at their posts about them getting "serious" now and thinking they are a better program it is kind've funny. That would be like Colgate or Cornell or the Bonnies calling us a joke. They've def got the better of us once or twice but not even their superfans would say they are on the same level.

Unless something has changed, and it may have, last years $8-9M was a one-time effort to give Red a workable roster. I’m not convinced that is our annual floor. Getting to the ceiling seems bigger than you think.

Does anyone know what's up with Micron? Even just getting something in the works that could lead to something would be something.

All things considered if PC has NIL at or above what SU has then Cuse is easily the better job opportunity

If it’s close than as a coach there is no way I’m going to pass on coaching in the ACC. Back in the day sure I may take a Big East job but it’s not that conference anymore. Too many opportunities for branding and other things that come along with it big name conferences. Not to mention what coach doesn’t think they are p4 level and want the opportunity to beat the Dukes, UNCs and UVAs.
Then give me a chance to coach I have grown up with and a chance to bring back some glory to get a stadium of 20k plus rocking.

If he doesn’t come fine but as a coach there aren’t that many opportunities to get in a job like this. You have to strike while it’s hot!
