I think Hodgson and his woman have an out of wedlock kid. Guessing that is a problem. They might need to get married (I know they got engaged) to get a better job than USF.

I suspect that is the plan. Bryan will get married (probably over the summer) and move up to a better job next year.

In the meantime, his agent will tell Goodman he ‘turned down’ PC as well and is going to stay at USF. He might well get a raise but don’t expect USF to add a big fee for leaving for another job.

Meanwhile SU and PC will hire candidates with better backgrounds this cycle.

Colleges these days are all about appearances and avoiding scandals.

I believe he was what we were looking for and we are what he was looking for. The only reason it didn’t happen was that he failed the vetting process. It is the only thing I can think they would explain this sequence of events.

I'm sure he's pushing for Gerry but I'm not sure that's a positive on Gerrys candidacy in the eyes of the decision makers.

Millions of dollars at stake in revenue, potentially the ENTIRE universities future at stake within the next 5 years or so (pending realignment) and we are concerned about something so so stupid and far fetched.

If true, just not a serious university. Mind you, JB had multiple, multiple scandals and hit somebody w his car and he seems to still have quite the pull up there.

based on the public timeline, she was at worst a senior when they started dating and was 22...and he was 32. Now perhaps what they say publicly is not what really happened.

her brother was on the basketball team and she originally started out at another university. i'd be really surprised if this was the reason given that two other universities hired him as a head coach and didn't think anything of it. they all do the standard background checks.

I'm by no means a prude. But coaches get fired for doing this, not hired. Ohio University fired their FB coach for a relationship with a grad student. They just can't allow that. So, if true, it was disqualifying. Might explain why he's looking toward a religion based school that seem to be more forgiving.

Thats why I asked. Your previous post stated the Ohio guy was fired for a relationship with a student. That isn’t true.

So yes, not remotely the same circumstances. Ohio guy wasn’t fired for his relationship with a student as you stated, it was because it was an affair combined with alcohol problems.

What I’m seeing involved an undergrad student though and you keep saying it’s a grad student so maybe we aren’t talking about the same thing.

Interviewer said I think we heard enough and BH got up walked out and screamed “FREE JOHNSYRACUSE !”

...and how would this be scandalized worse than the Heather Lyke debacle, that evidently had real workplace behavioral malfeasance and structural abuse of power issues?

No it's is not early. Unfortunately this needs to be a pedal to the metal thing. Although I guess we can't interview a coach that is still coaching. But they could fly to where Luke is playing and interview him possibly. They need to be right at the interview stage as soon as each potential coach is finished. We should have this hire in place by the end of next week at the latest.

I don’t think things are the same for assistant coaches.

Think of the impact Juli Boeheim had on the community, and in some ways still does.

I am sure BH’s girl is great but is she ready to be a community leader? As an aside, Adrian and his wife seemed to not even try and be community leaders. I suspect SU would like to bring in someone who has a wife and who is willing to be visible in the community.

At least somewhat like JAB and Juli were.
