Coach Search Options after Autry

I really liked what I saw last night. Martelli is a good coach and has 3 very very interesting players he could bring with him that I think could play at the P4 level.

To sell someone other than GMac it will take someone like Martelli or Steele who won games in the tournament. We will see if Groce can get a win today and if Steele can get another. But they can't sell the fan base on anyone beside Gerry without post season success at this point.
I fear that knowledgeable fan base reaction is fairly low on the totem pole for SU administrators.

He did- he also has at least 3 really solid talented players on that roster he could bring over if they followed him who can play at this level. That’s more than any of the other candidates.
Gerry could bring Doty (soph) and Folefac (frosh). We saw both do really well against Duke.
He also has a top point guard coming in this upcoming class. 4 star, I think On3 had him the 15th point guard in the nation at some point. Local kid from Chitt. Supposedly highest ranked kid in history of Siena, for what that is worth.

or did bh not like that we were taking our time
Very true. just as likely that some big donors drew a line and said anyone else. We're not buying what he's selling on the hill.

Obvi we know they want the family hire which may have just forced BH's hand anyway.

I'm still hoping BB is smart enough to give Murray and Martelli a shot. If more money is there for Gmac so be it but if all things are equal. Or maybe the big NIL donation yesterday was from Bill freakin Murray

This is tough...

Schertz
Martelli
Hodgson
Gerry
Murray

We should not go below 5. Ideally top 4.
BTW it is tough and that's kind of the point of the exercise I think our poster is putting us in. Like you could put Schertz at the top, but is that really because he has a longer track record...

I just seen a headline that stated “Lack of NIL and FAN SUPPORT” was the reason behind Hog boy saying no.. . i get NIL but FAN SUPPORT!! Seriously??? Wow

What will have to give is Anthony will have to work his ass off. If he can perform better than Doty, let him be the starter. If it is close because he actually works to improve, let him be the sixth man. Worked out for
Dion Waiters all right!
Frankly, I do not think Doty gives a damn if he is a starter or the sixth man or the seventh man. All the dude wants to do is win. Played small forward as a freshman. And make no mistake, he will improve his 33% 3pt . He improved 5% from last year and says with Gerrys help he will improve that next year.
I will say this because of how he operated at Siena - if Anthony doesnt work, if he slacks off, Doty (as well as Gerry) will be on his ass like green on grass.

And we will finally have an oncourt leader that we havent had since Gerry himself.
Doty will take no prisoners and will outwork everyone on the team.
And with his performance against Duke on national TV, he now has street cred for his future teammates.
Not arguing or defending any of that - putting Kiyan on the bench next year is going to cause angst. It shouldn't but it will unless we are winning at a high clip.

Still have a feeling it’s a name we haven’t heard
If we don't find out in the next hour its prob not gmac. BB cannot be chatting with Stevie and Paulie without something to say and that's at 1.

So if we don't get the gmac news he's def doing damage control that we are still looking and to be patient for someone better.

Rank these guys in coaching ability. Not NIL or booster or any that mularky.

Hogdson
Schertz
GMac

Murray

Leaving GMac out because it is too emotional for people...

Schertz

Hodgson/Martelli
Martelli/Hodgson

Steele/Groce
Groce/Steele

Murray - Can really rate him as a coach because he hasn't coached but read good things

If we ran five Fulton kids out there, we're still dancing. Fulton had a major league pitcher (Pete Gray, look it up), and bowling Hall of Famer Mark Roth lives in Fulton. And don't get me started on wrestling. Storied history of sporting excellence.
I don't think Pete Gray was from Fulton. Ted Wilks was a major league pitcher in the 40s and 50s and was from Fulton.
Mark Roth, unfortunately, passed away several years ago but his widow still lives in Fulton.
