There’s plenty of wiggle room between we never offered anyone the job and BH turned us down. Obviously a lot of people want to read everything in the most positive light and a lot want to read it in the most negative light and that’s how you get 642 pages.

It is a little funny to me a few days ago a lot of people wanted to dunk on providence for thinking they had a chance and BH and SU hd been locked in on each other for a year and what are the odds usf is in buffalo this week and providence was just being used as leverage and then actually we never really wanted him that badly anyway.

You can’t turn down a job you weren’t offered. Claiming you turned it down is a lie. Period.

The more likely scenario is that Providence made an offer, it was over market, and we didn’t want to match or escalate. So if the primary driver is money (and for an agent it always is), then the writing is on the wall.

But you have to be offered to turn something down. He wasn’t.

The other thing to consider is that there may have been a major gap between BH and other Providence candidates and if we were taking our time to offer, then it’s pretty clear we had other comparable (from our perspective) candidates. I have to imagine the vast majority of the time the actual job offer is only made when you know the guy is going to say yes. If there’s mutual interest between the two parties and the coach says I’m looking for at least X to coach and the school says .8x is the best we can do and the coach decides to move on I think an agent can pretty fairly leak he turned them down.

But I mean, also, agents can lie.

If I’m talking to a girl and ask her what she’s doing next Friday and she says she’s washing her hair and I run away crying she can both say she turned me down and I can say I didn’t ask her out.

Actually, I was advocating for Claxton over a year ago but it seems nobody here is interested in him. I think he’s a great coach.

Hodgson turned down SU because he worried Chuck Norris might want the job. I wonder now that he's passed on, if that puts BH back in the running.

The Red Fox could never ban me. (Though it's now under new ownership, it will be interesting to see what I can still get away with. Syracuse banner still hangs)

Wright State won their conference regular season AND the conference tourney. Siena came in 3rd regular season in the MAAC
